Don’t be afraid to say that you are Republicans!
GOP State Committee members ask Webber to call a meeting to adopt GOP platform
Gloucester County, Williamstown, NJ – Rob Eichmann and Donna Ward were elected to the New Jersey Republican State Committee (NJRSC) at the June 2nd primary election. Their job is to represent the Republicans of Gloucester County at the State Committee and to help speak for Republicans in New Jersey.
At the June 17th NJRSC reorganization meeting Eichmann and Ward proposed two resolutions, respectively. The first, by Eichmann, asked that the NJRSC adopt the platform of the Republican National Committee (RNC). The second, by Ward, asked that the NJRSC condemn the Corzine budget and tax increases. Both motions were blocked by the NJRSC legal counsel.
Eichmann and Ward sent a letter to newly elected state GOP Chairman Jay Webber (attached/dated 6-22-09). The woefully inadequate response to this letter prompted a second letter and more questions to the new Chairman (attached/dated 6-29-09).
To date, the Chairman has chosen not to respond to the letters, the issues they raise, or the questions posed. Even after indicating in the Star-Ledger (Auditor, 6-28-09) that he would support the motions, the Chairman has not set a date to allow a vote.
Eichmann said: “The Republican Party in New Jersey has been rendered impotent and irrelevant. We have done that to ourselves. I ran in an effort to change that. We need to be relevant, we need to be able to articulate a message that government is too big, that Trenton does not spend our money better than our families. I was hopeful that our new Chairman would share those views. To date, he has not allowed a vote that would send a clear message that we embrace those principles to return New Jersey to a prosperous state that can support growth, businesses, families, and long lived prosperity.”
“In a week where we have seen 3 Republican Congressmen vote for the single largest tax hike in our country’s history and our gubernatorial candidate parrot President Obama’s energy policy, Eichmann and Ward have only one question: Where is the leadership of the Republican Party in New Jersey and why aren’t they speaking up for the principles of lower taxes and less government?
Eichmann and Ward urge fellow Republicans to write to GOP State Chairman Jay Webber at Jay.Webber@njgop.org or call him at (609) 989-
