CHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – The time has come for a loyal, conservative Republican. Mike Pelletier – Chester Township resident since 1985, foster dad, real dad, coach, referee, fireman, singer – he is that loyal, conservative Republican. The time has come for Chester Township and Chester Borough to merge into ONE CHESTER, and Chester needs an AERIAL TRUCK for our Fire Company, for which Mike proudly serves. The time has come for Mike Pelletier.
Some may not be aware there are two Chesters. Those who are may not be aware of the sorry state of relations between the two governments. The Borough and Township even have separate "Chester days" coming up in May. Merging the two towns would help build a sense of community, implement current state policy to consolidate small governments, and help reduce the crushing property tax burden. Do Chester Township and Borough residents really need two Mayors, two Councils, two Road Departments, two Police Departments, and two Municipal Courts? Say goodbye to economic waste and poor relations! Chester has survived nicely with one Fire Company since 1921. ONE CHESTER!
The members of the Chester Volunteer Fire Company strongly agree: an aerial truck is needed to better protect your homes and all of Chester’s lives. The current ladders provide inadequate access to and protection on the many large homes and commercial buildings constructed in Chester over the last decade. The fact that surrounding communities have aerials is a reason Chester should as well. Is a community as fine as Chester to be wholly dependent on its neighbors in such a vital area as fire protection? The cost of an aerial, though substantial, will have a negligible impact on property taxes, and the Fire Company plans to use a portion of the Fund Drive contributions through the years to help defray the expense. In any event, safety trumps cost every time. AERIAL TRUCK!
Mike invites you and his primary opponents to the one and only Chester Library on Monday, May 5 at 7:30 to debate the pros and cons of merger, and would appreciate your support on June 3. Visit the campaign website at www.onechester.com anytime and share your thoughts on the merger, the aerial truck, or any other issue on your mind. See you on the campaign trail.
