ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ – Among the youngest candidates to run for town council in Bergen County history, Englewood Cliffs Republican Council candidates Robert Agresta and Eric Petrone have set out to bring a real political process to a town that has been predominantly Democratic for over 30 years. Touting a “New Generation of Leadership,” Robert Agresta and Eric Petrone claim that they are trying to “refocus the lens of the public on the issues and not on the people” pointing to a 33% tax increase over the past four years and a mayor and council that have borne an unprecedented record of spending.
Challenging their adversaries, Lynn Norton and Patricia Drimones to a debate on the issues concerning the residents of Englewood Cliffs, Robert Agresta and Eric Petrone have fought for an open airing of the issues concerning the residents. Robert asserts “We believe that the residents of Englewood Cliffs want a change in their local government, we believe that they want a two-party system.” Agresta and Petrone have pledged to fight for a reduction in spending, enhanced public services and the institution of an open and transparent government in Englewood Cliffs. Eric has stated “The people of Englewood Cliffs have not had an opportunity for their voices to be heard, I believe if they had there would be no room in this town for this kind of fiscal irresponsibility.”
