Joe Vas has been on the target list since last May, when he lost re-election as Mayor of Perth Amboy -- a job he'd held for 18 years. Democratic mayors in Carteret and South Amboy are looking at the race, and Middlesex Democrats might feel some pressure from the new regime in Perth Amboy to take Vas out of the picture.
