"The conversation that was taped is a chilling reminder that political corruption is still alive in Bergen County, even after the trial and convictions of Democrat County Chairman Joe Ferriero and former Senator Joseph Coniglio.""It is imperative that Assemblymen Schaer and Scalera join us in calling on state Attorney General Ann Milgram and our new U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman to investigate this immediately. Over 100 elected and appointed officials have been tried and convicted by former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie for violating the people's trust. You would think that would have been a deterrent, but not in Bergen County. The Democrats once again have taken this style of payoff politics to a new level," responded Diorio. On October 3, North Arlington Democrat Mayor Peter Massa, Democrat Council members Steve Tanelli and Albert Granell, and local zoning board chairman Nick Antonicello, met with Republican Council Candidate Chris Johnson at the Tick Tock Diner on Route 3 in Clifton to discuss the upcoming local general election. At the meeting, Johnson alleged and tapes recorded, that he was promised appointments to local boards, and the possibility of a salaried position, if he dropped out of the race for council.  According to Johnson, he will be turning over the recordings to federal prosecutors in the United States Attorney's office in Newark."Once again, Bergen County is at the forefront of cronyism and ethical failings, this matter must be fully investigated. If Schaer and Scalera don't step up to the plate with us in calling for an investigation, then we know where they stand." concluded Diorio.#####
