Marine Corporal Mike Fostek has returned from Iraq after his second tour of duty. Corporal Fostek is a Clifton native and has worked for Roland Straten's Paterson based Company Associated Fire Protection for eight years.
"It is great to be back home, says Fostek.
Corporal Fostek served in the Al-Anbar province of Baghdad for seven months as part of the Second Battalion, Sixth Marine Regiment. That region has recently been handed over to Iraqi forces - a clear sign of the progress that the United States forces are making.
It's really gratifying to see us succeeding and making a difference," says Corporal Fostek. "I just hope we do not leave before we finish the job."
Corporal Fostek has received several commendations including the Combat Action Ribbon, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal and the National Defense Medal..
Straten, the Republican Candidate for Congress in New Jersey's Eight District says Corporal Fostek is a real credit to the community and the country.
"We are extremely proud of Mike's service and are thrilled that he is home. "He really deserves a hero's welcome for the job he did over there.
