Roland Straten, Republican candidate for Congress from New Jersey's Eighth District will continue his cross-district tour Friday, September 12th at 10:30 a.m. in North Haledon and will take him through Haledon, Prospect Park, Paterson and Totowa. Straten plans on walking across the entire Eight District ending in South Orange by Election Day.
"People have been very responsive," says Straten. "I think they appreciate getting some face to face time to discuss the issues. I know it has been incredibly valuable for me as well."
The whole trip will take Straten through Passaic and Essex Counties and many of the District's twenty-one municipalities. Straten's trademark "Rollin on To Congress" truck pulled billboard is hard to miss.
Roland Straten is a native of Wayne and a 39-year resident of Montclair. Straten served as a Naval Officer in the Vietnam War and was President of Associated Fire Protection in Paterson before deciding he wanted to serve the people of the Eighth District in Congress. Straten has served as chair of the Paterson Economic Development Corporation and as Commissioner on the New Jersey Fire Commission.
