STRATEN: I WILL BRING PROSPERITY TO THE CITY OF PASSAIC

Passaic, NJ - Responding to the Herald News feature titled "Passaic Lags in Median Income,"  Roland Straten, business leader and Republican candidate for Congress from New Jersey's Eighth Congressional Distrcit, pledged to support legislation that would bring greater economic growth to the city.

"More government regulation and higher taxes are not the solutions to stimulating Passaic's economy. We need a representative in Washington who has the expertise to cut spending, reduce regulations, and create conditions where hard-working entrepreneurs will be able to start successful businesses and spur job growth, "Straten said.

Straten also drew on his expertise in running an urban business and serving as President of the Paterson Economic Development Corporation to further his plans for Passaic and the entire Eighth District. "As a Paterson business owner for thirty-seven years, I know how important it is not only to spend responsibly but also to invest in our urban centers. We need a voice in Washington who understands these issues," said Straten.

Straten concluded, "There is no reason why the residents of the great City of Passaic do not deserve greater opportunity to live the American Dream. By promoting business growth and better jobs for the people of Passaic as our next Congressman, I can be the agent of change that brings my constituents out of poverty and towards greater prosperity."

Roland Straten is a native of Wayne and a 39-year resident of Montclair. Straten served as a Naval Officer in the Vietnam War and was President of Associated Fire Protection in Paterson before deciding he wanted to serve the people of the Eighth District in Congress. Straten has served as chair of the Paterson Economic Development Corporation and as a Commissioner on the New Jersey Fire Commission.
