PANTER & MORGAN EARN ENDORSEMENT FROM LEADING NURSES' GROUP
Vow to Protect Quality of Care for Patients, Nurses
(FREEHOLD)- Assemblymen Michael J. Panter and Robert L. Morgan, MD (both D-Monmouth/Mercer) today announced that they have received the New Jersey State Nurses Association's Interested Nurses Political Action Committee's (INPAC) endorsement for their re-election to the state Assembly in the 12th Legislative District.
"As a practicing physician for over 20 years, I have the highest respect for nursing professionals," said Dr. Morgan, who sponsored the law to expand the New Jersey FamilyCare Plan to cover 264,000 uninsured children in New Jersey. "The stability of nursing as a profession must be not only protected but also promoted, and we must take steps to ensure a nursing profession that is able to attract each year a new, dedicated cohort of the best and the brightest to take care for all of us in the future."
"We have supported nursing professionals’ efforts to obtain adequate staffing at hospitals and wages for the employees," said Panter. "Dr. Morgan and I believe that every New Jersey resident should have the right to quality health care. To achieve this aim, we must ensure that nurses attain their fair share of wages and benefits."
The Interested Nurses Political Action Committee (INPAC) is the political action arm of New Jersey State Nurses' Association (NJSNA). INPAC promotes nursing and the improvement of health care by endorsing and supporting those candidates who support NJSNA's legislative objectives.
The endorsement of Panter and Morgan by the New Jersey State Nurses Association Interested Nurses Political Action Committee comes on the heels of endorsements by the New Jersey American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organization (AFL-CIO), the New Jersey Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) the Sierra Club-New Jersey chapter, the Mercer County Central Labor Council (CLC), the Association of American University Professors (AAUP), the Planned Parenthood Action Committee, the New Jersey Tenants Organization (NJTO), New Jersey Law Enforcement Supervisors Association (NJLEASA), the New Jersey State Policemen's Benevolent Association (PBA), the Health Professionals and Allied Employees (HPAE) the New Jersey Environmental Federation (NJEF), the New Jersey Regional Council of Carpenters, the Communication Workers of America (CWA) and, most recently, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
