Senator John Kerry: Frank Lautenberg 'Consistent and Principled' in Early Stance on Ending the Iraq War

Senator John Kerry (D-MA) today issued the following statement:

"When few others would join our early fight to redeploy American troops from Iraq, Senator Lautenberg stood with 12 of us and voted to bring our brave men and women home.  Since then, Frank has voted repeatedly to end the war in Iraq.  As veterans, he and I know that our military is stretched dangerously thin and that continuing to police a civil war in Iraq with no end in sight is wrong for our foreign policy and our national defense.  While others have ducked and dodged, Senator Lautenberg has consistently questioned the Administration's plans in Iraq ever since his return to the Senate in 2003.  It is particularly because of  his consistent and principled stand on this issue -- as well as many others -- that I am proud to support him for re-election to the Senate," said Sen. John Kerry.
