ROB ANDREWS' ENERGY POLICY: INVADE IRAQ
As the price of a barrel of oil climbs to approximately $120, it is important to note what Congressman Andrews has long believed to be the best way to solve America's energy issues:
"I think the best short-term energy policy is to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq." -- Congressman Rob Andrews, Fox News Channel, April, 2002
"[Andrews] said Iraq's oil reserves would help offset the cost of rebuilding the Persian Gulf nation." -- Courier-Post, April 17, 2003
"Countering critics who think the war is just about oil, Andrews said in part it is -- but not on the part of the United States." -- Courier-Post, April 17, 2003
"Congressman Andrews was as wrong about his views on sound energy policy as he was on enabling George Bush's war. Five years after Congressman Andrews worked overtime to meet our energy needs by invading Iraq, the price of a barrel of oil is at an all-time high, consumers are struggling at the pump and we continue to spend billions of dollars a month in a war that has cost lives while being a major contributor to the run-up in oil prices. Furthermore, he has failed to disclose his meetings with the Bush Administration in the lead up to the war and whether Iraqi oil ever came up as a topic. Candidate Andrews can't hide from Congressman Andrews' misguided views on foreign policy or on energy policy," said Lautenberg spokeswoman Julie Roginsky.
