ANDREWS ENGAGES IN HYPOCRISY AND DECEPTION ON GIVING VOTERS A CHOICE
Newark, N.J. - Rep. Rob Andyrews, who has consistently used the argument that he is running for Senate to give voters a "choice" this June, was caught in yet another example of double talk when a lawyer working to deny Democratic Senate candidate Donald Cresitello the opportunity to run in the June 3rd primary admitted she was working at the behest of Congressman Andrews.
Just this morning, the Star-Ledger quoted an Andrews spokesman as saying that the Andrews campaign was not involved in denying Mayor Cresitello a spot on the Democratic ballot. But a few hours later, a lawyer challenging the Cresitello petitions admitted she was working for Andrews.
According to the Star-Ledger, lawyer Jean Lidon said she was [in court] to represent Andrews, but after she was silenced by her partner she quickly backpeddled by claiming confusion and pleading that she knew "nothing about politics" [Star-Ledger, April 16, 2008].
"This is remarkable hypocrisy on the part of Congressman Andrews. He claims to want to give voters a choice in this election, yet here he is exposed trying to knock other Democrats off the ballot. The Rob Andrews deception continues," said Lautenberg campaign spokesperson Julie Roginsky.
