Lautenberg Statement on 40th Anniversary of Death of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Lautenberg Statement on 40th Anniversary of Death of Martin Luther King, Jr.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) today issued the following statement on the 40th anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King, Jr., and to commemorate his life’s work:

“Today, America would be a less equal and just nation without the life’s work and lasting influence of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Dr. King never let injustice go unchecked and he fought to achieve his dream of a country free of hate and full of hope.  Today, 40 years after his untimely death, too many Americans still face the same struggles Dr. King fought so hard to end.  There is no better way to honor Dr. King’s memory than to finish the work he started by reducing poverty and guaranteeing equal opportunity for all.”
