ORTIZ DETAILS VISION TO ESTABLISH AND SUSTAIN FUNDRAISING BCRO Chair candidate with proven fundraising track record can raise the money to “Bring Bergen Back!” RIDGEWOOD, N.J. (July 18, 2007) – In sharing his dynamic vision for revitalizing and strengthening the Bergen County Republican Organization (BCRO), Chairman candidate Rob Ortiz has realized a groundswell of endorsements and support from Bergen County elected officials and County Committee members. With his candidacy building momentum on a daily basis, today Ortiz unveiled his vision for Party fundraising. “Bergen County residents support smaller government, fiscal restraint and personal freedom, but we must have the resources to spread this Republican message and create the infrastructure to support our Republican candidates,” explained Ortiz. “I have proven that I can successfully raise funds for Republican candidates. By converting national and statewide Republican donors to Bergen County Republican donors, we will establish the fundraising operation we need to raise the capital to rebuild and sustain the BCRO and provide our local candidates with the support they deserve. In my various fundraising capacities at both the national and statewide level, I have been fortunate to work with some of the top fundraisers in the country. I look forward to implementing the lessons I have learned from them to benefit the BRCO.” Ortiz has been recognized as a top fundraiser to Republican candidates in presidential, U.S. senatorial and gubernatorial campaigns. He is currently a top fundraiser for presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, bringing in over $140,000 at a single Franklin Lakes event in February. Ortiz also promised that as Chair he will reexamine how money is spent, explaining, “Even with a strong fundraising operation, it is critical that we spend our money wisely – not only to maximize results, but also to demonstrate our dedication to the principle of fiscal responsibility.” The election for Chairman will be held on Monday, July 23 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at BCRO headquarters in Hackensack. Lt. Gov. Guadagno takes on red tape in N.J. Gov. "Never forget, some of those shouting the loudest are the architects of the disaster we are now suffering. Do we really want another decade of economic failure? No, this spring it is time to clear away the underbrush to make room for growth. So, today, we stop sweeping problems under the rug. We will not hide our problems until
another day. And we are certainly not increasing the tax burden we place upon our people. Today, we are taking necessary and decisive action to reduce state spending and reform state government. The problems we have hidden for twenty years are evident for all to see. The day of reckoning has arrived. Some are saying, by their choice of policies, that we should descend further into debt and deficit, and risk driving more people out of the state with “temporary” tax increases that always turn out to be permanent. I say we must face up to our responsibility." -- Gov. Christopher Christie
