Old Bridge Dems Endorse Slate for Mayor and Council (Old Bridge Township) – The Old Bridge Democratic Committee has unanimously endorsed Mayor James T. Phillips, Council President Patrick Gillespie and Councilman Edward Testino for re-election in this year’s Mayor and At-large council races.  The Committee also endorsed the candidacy of Larry Redmond for Township Council.“This year’s Democratic slate represents the very best of Old Bridge,â€? said Mayor Phillips. “We are running on a solid record of expanding services, preserving open space and keeping taxes at bay. We want to build upon our record with new senior housing, expansion of commuter parking facilities and the completion of Mannino Park.â€?Mayor Phillips will be seeking his second term as Mayor of Old Bridge, while Patrick Gillespie will be running for a third term and Ed Testino for his fourth term on the Township Council. Larry Redmond, Old Bridge’s current Planning Board Chairman and a former councilman from 2000 to 2004, will be running for an At-large seat on the Council. Redmond said, “Mayor Phillips has done a great job leading our Township. I look forward to the opportunity of being a part of the exciting future that Mayor Phillips and our Council candidates have planned for Old Bridge.â€? Council President Patrick Gillespie welcomed Redmond to Team Old Bridge by saying, “Larry was instrumental in holding-the-line against the major other developments that threatened, not only to overburden our roads and services, but our way-of-life.â€?Councilman Ed Testino added, “We will continue to be a leader in the State when it comes to the preservation of open space. Over the last four years, we have protected over 500 acres of land along with other environmentally sensitive areas in Old Bridge.â€?The primary election for Mayor and the three At-large Council seats is on Tuesday, June 5th. ###Â
