President Returns to New Jersey to Headline Rallies
in Camden and Newark
(NEWARK) – As New Jersey voters get ready to head to the polls in just two days, President Barack Obama headlined two rallies today where he made impassioned pleas for voters to support Governor Jon S. Corzine, Lieutenant Governor candidate Senator Loretta Weinberg and Democrats across the state.
The President hailed Governor Corzine for fighting for what matters most on behalf of New Jersey families during speeches before enthusiastic crowds at arenas in Camden and Newark.
“For the past four years, you've had an honorable man at the helm in this state during one of the most difficult periods in its history,” said President Obama. “You've had a leader who's put the interests of hardworking New Jersey families ahead of the special interests. You've had a leader who's fought for what matters most. That's the kind of governor Jon Corzine has been. And that's the kind of governor that he will be for another four years if everybody here does their job.”
The President urged rally-goers at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden to make their voices heard by voting on Tuesday, November 3. Later at the Prudential Center in Newark, President Obama reminded the crowd about the importance of having a partner in New Jersey who could work with him on making his bold agenda for change a reality.
"The stakes of this election could not be higher," said Corzine. "My Administration has fought for New Jersey families, working every day to expand healthcare to more children and passing paid family leave that allows workers to care for their loved ones while still receiving a paycheck. Working with the Obama Administration, we will continue to build on the progress this state has made and climb to even greater heights.”
“We’ve been all across the state in the past few months listening to New Jersey residents and speaking with them about how we have been fighting for the things that matter most,” said Weinberg. “Democrats across this state intend to continue making the right choices for New Jersey families and setting the right priorities for the next four years. Governor Corzine and I are going to continue fighting every second for what matters most to you and your family.”
“As the energy present at these rallies clearly shows, New Jerseyans are excited about this campaign and hopeful about what can be accomplished with President Obama and Governor Corzine working together to move our country and our state forward,” said Joseph Cryan, Democratic State Committee Chairman. “Momentum is building for our grassroots effort as people from every corner of the state are coming together and doing the hard work necessary to re-elect Jon Corzine, elect Loretta Weinberg as our state’s first Lieutenant Governor and elect Democrats up and down the ballot.”
President Obama headlined the two rallies today less than two weeks after taking the stage at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack to help build momentum for New Jersey Democrats. Earlier this summer, President Obama spoke before thousands of supporters at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel.
The President’s third visit to the state this campaign caps a week full of appearances from high-profile Democrats in support of the Corzine/Weinberg ticket and Democrats up and down the ballot. Former President William Clinton came back to New Jersey to support the Democratic ticket in New Jersey and Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Tim Kaine made several campaign stops with the governor and his running mate earlier this week. Environmental advocate Bobby Kennedy, Jr. and former Senator Bill Bradley also hit the trail this weekend to rally Democrats in the final days of the campaign.

Hello President Obama:
You have reached the voters of the State of New Jersey. We are unavailable to take your call on account of high taxes, unemployment and overall disgust with the State of our State. Please call back on November 4, 2009 and ask for Governor Christopher Christie.
Thank you for calling.
Democrats are shameless and
Democrats are shameless and desperate.
They could bring back FDR and JFK from the dead, campaign for Corzine and it still wouldn't matter.
Vote Christie for Governor!
Let's bring back New Jersey from the brink!

would have been a good team for New Jersey and real partners for President Obama.
