DNC CHAIR TIM KAINE JOINS CORZINE, WEINBERGAND NEW JERSEY DEMOCRATS ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL (HARRISON) – Joining a wave of high-profile Democrats who have made appearances in the state in recent weeks, Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Tim Kaine joined Governor Jon S. Corzine, his running mate Loretta Weinberg and New Jersey Democrats on the campaign trail this evening. Kaine made several stops where he praised the governor’s record fighting on behalf of New Jersey families and encouraged supporters to make every effort to “get out the vote” on Election Day.“We’re excited to welcome Tim Kaine to New Jersey,” said Joseph Cryan, Chairman of the Democratic State Committee. “Democrats across the state are united behind the Corzine/Weinberg ticket. Having the national chairman of our party with us today solidifies the fact that Democrats are ready to do the hard work over the final days of this campaign to make sure we have the right leadership in the State House to move our state forward.”Kaine first joined Senator Weinberg at an event with American Federation of Teachers and Health Professional & Allied Employees union members at the Wyndham Hotel in Saddle Brook before heading to Hoboken to speak at the Hispanic Bar Association (HBA) of New Jersey’s 30th Annual Installation Ceremony of the President and 2009/2010 Officers and Trustees. Hundreds of HBA members packed the room at the W Hotel as Kaine spoke at the organization’s annual swearing-in ceremony.“Jon Corzine has proven over the last four years that he is a leader who never wavers from his commitment to fight for what matters most to the people of his state,” said Kaine. “Even as our country has faced difficult, uncertain times due to the failed Republican policies of the past eight years in Washington, New Jersey families have been able to count on Jon Corzine. As he is one of just a handful of governors to make paid family leave the law and made sure more than 100,000 additional children have health care, Jon Corzine is the right person to lead New Jersey for the next four years.”Later in the evening, Kaine and Governor Corzine attended Mayor Raymond McDonough’s Annual Cocktail Party at the Polish National Hall in Harrison.“I am honored to have Tim Kaine campaign with us here in New Jersey,” said Corzine. “As a national leader for our party, he shares in our belief that health care is a right not a privilege, that all children are entitled to a quality education and we need to do everything in our power to turn around our economy. Tim Kaine also understands the importance of President Obama having a partner here in New Jersey who can work with him on making his bold agenda for change a reality.”“Having Tim Kaine with us tonight is proof that momentum continues to grow for our campaign,” said Weinberg. “Since day one, it’s been clear that Jon Corzine and I are the team who will fight for what matters most for the people of New Jersey, while Christie is extremely wrong when it matters most.”Kaine’s appearance coincides with a surge of high-ranking Democratic leaders who have either visited the state or will visit in the final week of the campaign to make the case for Jon Corzine’s re-election, the election of Loretta Weinberg as the state’s first Lieutenant Governor and the election of Democrats up and down the ballot. President Bill Clinton was in West Orange and Little Falls on Tuesday, making his second appearance in just a week. President Obama will make his third visit to New Jersey this campaign on Sunday, headlining two rallies in Camden and Newark, less than two weeks after headlining a rally at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack.# # #
