(LITTLE FALLS) – President Bill Clinton returned to New Jersey today to headline a rally in Little Falls and a fundraiser in West Orange one week after headlining two rallies that drew thousands of New Jersey residents in Collingswood and New Brunswick to build support for the re-election of Governor Jon S. Corzine, his running-mate Senator Loretta Weinberg and Democrats across the state.
“We’re thrilled to welcome President Clinton back to the state of New Jersey as momentum continues to build for Jon Corzine, Loretta Weinberg and Democrats up and down the ballot,” said Democratic State Committee Chairman Joseph Cryan. “Jon Corzine has proudly continued President Clinton’s fight here in New Jersey, making paid family leave the law, expanding health care coverage to more than 100,000 New Jersey children and investing in education because it’s the right thing to do.”
“I’m honored to have the support of President Clinton, who accomplished so much for hard working families in our country during his presidency,” said Corzine. “President Clinton understands how much is at stake in this election for New Jersey.”
Hundreds of enthusiastic supporters filled the room at the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 464A in Little Falls as the 42nd President of the United States urged New Jerseyans to get out and vote on Tuesday, November 3.
“Jon Corzine’s record of success should speak for itself,” said President Clinton. “He’s delivered for New Jersey residents despite facing a global economic recession the likes of which haven’t been seen in decades. New Jersey voters now face a critical choice and Governor Jon Corzine has the courage to fight for what matters most.”
Earlier in the evening President Clinton attended a fundraiser in West Orange to benefit the Essex County Democratic Committee.
“Jon Corzine is fighting every day for New Jersey families and I look forward to working with him as our state’s first Lieutenant Governor,” said Weinberg. “Having President Clinton here with us once again underscores his commitment to the people of New Jersey and to the work Jon Corzine has done to move our state forward.”
President Clinton’s appearances in the state are part of a wave of high-profile Democrats that have hit the campaign trail in support of Jon Corzine, Loretta Weinberg and New Jersey Democrats. President Barack Obama, who headlined a rally at Fairleigh Dickinson in Hackensack last week, will be rallying supporters in Camden and Newark on November 1.
