MAYOR LANGFORD HOSTS GRAND OPENING OF DEMOCRATS’ NEW VICTORY ’09 OFFICE IN ATLANTIC CITY

MAYOR LANGFORD HOSTS GRAND OPENING OF
DEMOCRATS’ NEW VICTORY ’09 OFFICE IN ATLANTIC CITY

(ATLANTIC CITY) – Mayor Lorenzo T. Langford today joined Atlantic County Democratic leaders, candidates, volunteers and Atlantic City residents at the grand opening of the new Atlantic City Headquarters of the Democratic State Committee’s Victory ’09 Campaign.

“We must keep it going after the historic election of President Barack Obama, by working together to build on this energy here in Atlantic City to re-elect Governor Corzine who is the President’s partner here in New Jersey,” said Mayor Langford.  “Today’s successful grand opening of the new Atlantic City office is based on Atlantic County residents getting involved – this is truly an impressive display of grassroots organizing and a testament to the enthusiasm of Democrats in our city.  I’m confident Atlantic City Democrats will play a key role in securing Victory in 2009 for our Governor, Loretta Weinberg and Democrats across the State.”

Mayor Langford urged Atlantic City residents to come down to the office to take part in campaign efforts and said that the turn-out at today’s event shows that momentum is continuing to grow in Atlantic City for Jon Corzine and New Jersey Democrats.

Langford said the opening of the new headquarters will bring the energy of the campaign across the State to the heart of Atlantic City.  The office will host a wide-range of campaign activities to encourage voter outreach including volunteer phone banking and door-to-door canvassing.  In addition, the offices also are home to the Democratic State Committee’s Yes We Can 2.0 Campaign which organizes a variety of dynamic events in communities across Passaic County to engage new voters.

More than 100 local Atlantic City residents attended the grand opening of the office, located at 1125 Atlantic Avenue.  Volunteers later took part in activities to reach out to voters including phone banking and knocking on doors in the city.
