(TRENTON) – Democratic State Committee Chairman Joseph Cryan today released the following statement on the indictment of Assemblyman Anthony Chiappone (D-Hudson):
“The charges Assemblyman Chiappone has been indicted for today are deeply upsetting to all New Jersey Democrats but especially for the people of Hudson who elected him to serve their interests.
“New Jerseyans deserve to be represented by officials who act with integrity and uphold the highest ethical standards.
“Assemblyman Chiappone failed to meet these standards and now owes it to the people of New Jersey to step down immediately as a state assemblyman.
“In the interest of working families in Hudson and Democrats across the state, I am joining in the collective call by Democratic leadership for him to act responsibly and resign today.”
