McCarthy and Shahdanian Win Endorsement of the New Jersey State AFL-CIO and the New Jersey Building and Construction Trades

(DUMONT/OLD TAPPAN) – Michael McCarthy and John Shahdanian, the Democratic candidates for state Assembly in the 39th district, have earned the endorsement of the New Jersey Building and Constructions Trades as well as the state’s largest labor federation, the New Jersey State AFL-CIO.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of such prolific and important organizations as the AFL-CIO and Building Trades,” said McCarthy, a union member, delegate and N.J. State AFL-CIO Labor Candidate. “This is recognition of Democrats’ continued support of working class families here in New Jersey, from raising the minimum wage to providing workers with paid family leave.”

“This endorsement speaks volumes about Mike McCarthy’s and my commitment to preserving and protecting the values of residents of the 39th District,” added Shahdanian. “In this struggling economy, we must renew our commitment to New Jersey’s hard-working men and women. Together, we can jumpstart our economy and create new jobs and opportunities for working families.”

The endorsement was announced during the state AFL-CIO’s June conference in Atlantic City.

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO and the New Jersey Building and Construction Trades are made up of over one thousand local labor unions representing one million workers.
