Forrester's Stonewalling To Get Judicial Test Today
Doug Forrester's stubborn refusal to disclose information about the practices and profits of his prescription drug company will be tested once again when a Superior Court judge hears a request by the Democratic State Committee to release documents from a lawsuit against Benecard by two of Forrester's public clients.
Trying to get the truth about alleged profiteering and other business abuses, Hamilton Township and the City of Paterson filed a lawsuit against Benecard, Mr Forrester's drug benefits company.
Court proceedings have revealed evidence that Benecard pocketed drug company rebates, rather than passing them along to the company's clients. This revelation followed repeated denials by Mr Forrester.
Since then, Mr Forrester has steadfastly refused to disclose information about the rebates, asking the court to seal documents from the lawsuit.
The Democratic State Committee filed Freedom of Information requests with the court. The judge will hold a hearing on the request today.
Scorecard on Forrester's Stonewalling
In addition to the Hamilton/Paterson court documents that Mr Forrester wants to keep secret, he has been stiff-arming the public on a number of other fronts.
1) Forrester has refused to collect and dispose Benecard's no-bid contracts with public entities throughout the state.
2) Forrester has refused to admit how much in drug company rebates he has pocketed. His previous denials were shown to be untrue when court proceedings revealed an admission by his lawyer that Benecard did keep rebates.
3) Forrester has refused to list his pay-to-play contributions at various levels of government in New Jersey.
4) Forrester has refused to disclose documents filed with the Department of Banking and Insurance related to the investigation of Heartland Insurance, the captive insurance company he created in the shadows of Benecard. He asked that a number of documents be kept secret.
5) Forrester has refused to make public either his business or personal tax returns.
