With the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics confirming today that New Jersey continues to have a significantly higher unemployment rate than its neighboring states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut, Assembly Republican members Mary Pat Angelini and Dave Rible said it’s clear Governor Jon Corzine so-called economic recovery program is failing the people of New Jersey.
“Governor Corzine continues to boast that he saw the recession coming and, as a result, implemented that nation’s first economic recovery program. The question then remains – where is the recovery?” questioned Angelini, R-Monmouth. “The September regional unemployment rates are out and once again, New Jersey’s unemployment rate far surpasses that of its neighboring states.
“Talk is cheap,” she added. “The governor’s rhetoric isn’t putting people to work, it’s not paying their mortgages and it’s certainly not paying their obscene property tax bills.”
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics for September, New Jersey’s 9.8 percent unemployment rate, which has increased for 20 consecutive months and is the same as the national average, far surpasses that of its neighbors. New York’s jobless rate held at 8.9 percent, Pennsylvania’s was 8.8 percent, Connecticut has a rate of 8.4 while Delaware’s stands at 8.3 percent.
“Just ask any of the state’s 9.8 unemployed workers how well the governor’s economic recovery program is working for them,” stated Rible, R-Monmouth. Our resident’s pain is real, Governor Corzine’s economic recovery program is not. “Foreclosures were up more than 44 percent last quarter while revenues were down nearly $200 million in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
“Governor Corzine can spin the data anyway he wants, but he’s isn’t fooling anyone but himself. The people of our state are hurting. They are looking to Trenton for relief, but until the governor is willing to admit there’s a problem, nothing will change. Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem inclined to do that.”
Angelini and Rible, saying it’s time for a new approach, urged Governor Corzine to give serious consideration to the Republican’s “Common Sense Plan for an Affordable New Jersey,” which includes a proposal for short and long-term economic development and growth. Say no to Christie and Corzine. Vote Daggett
Don't by that GOP non-sense that Daggett is a plant funded by Corzine.
Fact is Daggett has no funds at all.
Futhermore, Chris Daggett nailed Christie and Corzine for corruption in 3rd Debate
You really have to hand it to Chris Daggett. Not only did he stand toe to toe with Jon Corzine and Chris Christie he really nailed it to them in the 3rd NJ Gubernatorial Debate. Once again, for the third time in a row, I give this as a notch for Daggett.
Chris Daggett handed it to both Christie and Corzine for corruption saying to fight corruption you need to lead by example.
Daggett then cited specific corrupt activities that Christie and Corzine had engaged in, including illegal campaign finance and pay to play, and neither Corzine or Christie could defend themselves.
Instead, Corzine acknowledges that activity is going on and agrees with Daggett that it needs to stop.
