RUMANA TO CORZINE: WHERE'S THE ECONOMIC RECOVERY IN A 44 PERCENT FORECLOSURE RATE HIKE?

RUMANA TO CORZINE: WHERE'S THE ECONOMIC RECOVERY IN A 44 PERCENT FORECLOSURE RATE HIKE?

New Jersey Leads Region in 3rd Quarter Foreclosure Filings

With the state’s quarterly foreclosure filings up 44 percent – the highest increase in the region, a 9.8 percent unemployment rate and the loss of 12,000 more private sector jobs last month alone, Assemblyman Scott Rumana today called Governor Jon Corzine’s claims that New Jersey’s economic recovery has begun a cruel joke on the state’s suffering middle class.

“One month of miniscule job growth does not a recovery make,” stated Rumana, R-Passaic, Bergen and Essex, referring to August which showed a gain of 700 jobs. “The fact of the matter is our steadily rising unemployment is pushing up the state’s foreclosure rate. A 44 percent jump from the second to the third quarter is huge. It’s by far the largest increase among our neighboring states. Governor Corzine’s economic recovery is a fallacy.”

According to RealtyTrac’s U.S. Foreclosure Market Report for Q3, 2009, New Jersey had the highest increase in foreclosure rates in the region for the third quarter, up 44 percent while Delaware’s foreclosure rate fell by nearly 9 percent. New York’s rate increased 11.5 percent while Pennsylvania’s climbed 7.16 percent.

In Bergen and Passaic counties, which Rumana represents, 1 in 249 and 1 in 132 households, respectively, received a foreclosure filing during the period.

Rumana said the state’s 3rd quarter foreclosure rate is highly troublesome and disturbing because not only is it “off the charts” in comparison to its neighboring states, but at 44 percent, it far surpasses the nation’s 5 percent increase.

“Governor Corzine’s so called economic recovery efforts have accomplished nothing as the data well confirms,” commented Rumana. “If our state was showing signs of a bonafide recovery why would the governor’s chief of staff be urging cabinet members to ‘be creative’ and stage events focusing on Corzine’s job-growth record? The Corzine administration is grasping at straws. Their attempts to make something out of nothing are unconscionable.”

Published reports Wednesday revealed that Corzine’s deputy chief of staff sent a message to cabinet officers earlier this month urging them to stage events that convey the impression the governor’s economic recovery efforts are “already working” and “creating and retaining jobs” even though “it might be a stretch.”

Say no to Christie and Corzine. Vote Daggett

Don't by that GOP non-sense that Daggett is a plant funded by Corzine.

Fact is Daggett has no funds at all.

Futhermore, Chris Daggett nailed Christie and Corzine for corruption in 3rd Debate

You really have to hand it to Chris Daggett. Not only did he stand toe to toe with Jon Corzine and Chris Christie he really nailed it to them in the 3rd NJ  Gubernatorial Debate. Once again, for the third time in a row, I give this as a notch for Daggett.

Chris Daggett handed it to both Christie and Corzine for corruption saying to fight corruption you need to lead by example.

Daggett then cited specific corrupt activities that Christie and Corzine had engaged in, including illegal campaign finance and pay to play, and neither Corzine or Christie could defend themselves.

Instead, Corzine acknowledges that activity is going on and agrees with Daggett that it needs to stop.
