DeCROCE: ENJOY THE JULY 4TH CELEBRATIONS BECAUSE THE NEXT HOLIDAY WILL COST YOU MORE

GOVERNOR CORZINE'S LIQUOR TAX KICKS IN AUGUST 1

Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce today said New Jersey residents should enjoy the July 4th holiday that kicks off tomorrow and runs through Sunday because it’s the last holiday they will be able to partake in a celebratory toast before Governor Jon Corzine’s 25 percent tax on liquor takes effect on August 1.

“Hard-working middle class families will take a break this weekend to celebrate our nation’s 233rd birthday with family get-togethers, barbeques, picnics and firework displays,” said DeCroce, R-Morris and Passaic. “It’s unfortunate that the next holiday they get together is going to cost them more money because the only way Governor Corzine knows how to balance a state budget is through taxation, one-shot gimmicks and deferrals. After four years, he’s still using the state’s working middle class as Trenton’s primary revenue source.”
