Chris Daggett: the next governor? You betcha!
By Murray SabrinAccording to the latest SurveyUSA and Rutgers Eagleton polls, independent gubernatorial candidate Chris Daggett has the support of 19% and 20% of the electorate, respectively, while both Corzine and Christie are polling around 40% each.
In short, Chris Daggett in striking distance of leapfrogging the two establishment candidates with his (flawed) plan to "take on the special interests in Trenton." Daggett's plan to reduce property taxes by 25% is music to the ears of voters who are tired of paying higher taxes every year.
Both the Corzine and Christie camps have been doing their best-unintentionally of course--to bring out the anti-Corzine and anti-Christie voters, because both campaigns have saturated the airwaves with negative ads.
Voters who are anti-Corzine have three options: voting for Christie, staying home or voting for Daggett. By the same token, the anti-Christie voters also have three options: voting for Corzine, staying home or voting for Daggett.
At this stage of the campaign, the anti-Corzine and anti-Christie voters are up for grabs. And with Daggett's poll numbers showing that he can win, a vote for Daggett is no longer considered a "wasted" vote.
Enough anti-establishment voters will come out on Election Day to register their disgust, frustration, and anger with the Democrats and Republicans who are responsible for the fiscal mess in Trenton, and Daggett will squeak out a victory that will send shock waves throughout the nation.
Chris Daggett will win the governorship on Election Day because the electorate is fed up with the fiscal irresponsibility of the political elites who have governed New Jersey to the brink of bankruptcy. For several decades the politics of redistributing income from the suburbs to the cities could be tolerated because the economy was in relatively good shape. No more. The Great Recession of this decade has taken its toll.
State and local government spending have to be reduced no matter who is elected governor, but voters have been realizing more and more that neither Corzine nor Christie will do what is necessary to put the state budget on a sound footing.
Lower income tax rates and regulatory reform also have to be a high priority as well for the next governor. New Jersey will not see private sector job growth-the engine of job creation and prosperity--if the current income tax system and overbearing regulatory structure remain in place.
So with just one week before the November 3rd election, Governor Corzine and Republican challenger Chris Christie have been unable to "close the deal," opening the door for Chris Daggett to become the next governor of New Jersey.
As the last week unfolds, Daggett will surge in the polls and will be elected the next governor of New Jersey next Tuesday.

sniffing the dittos again at the university. Of course, look back at the accuracy of his predictions concerning his own campaigns. Let's hope he understands what he teaches better than he understands grown-up campaign politics in the real world. This notion of an electorate fed up enough to vote for a guy whose commercial they've never seen, a guy they've never heard of is pretty popular among the tin-foil-helmut-wearing-set I hear. Perhaps if you look at last weeks poll numbers you might jump to the conclusion that Daggettt has a chance. But, the latest poll numbers from (PPP) and Rasmussen shows a trend toward Christie and a decline in Daggett's numbers.These latest polls are reflective of large samplings of voters which enhances the accuracy of the data. The electorate has come to the realization that Daggetts tax proposals mean higher taxes and tolls for the middle class in New Jersey.The only way to get rid of Jon Corzine is to vote for Chris Christie. He is far more likely to respond to the average overtaxed New Jersey resident.Now Jon Corzine will be able to make donations to charity instead of for his self centered career as a politician.

From to first time I spoke with him on the gubernatorial campaign trail, I could tell that Chris Daggett was a formidable contender. Later, his performance in the first debate with Corzine and Christie proved that he had a fresh, intelligent and workable approach towards dealing with New Jersey’s most difficult challenges.
Unlike Corzine and Christie, Daggett is not running with weighty baggage or history of corruption. He is as close as any politician in this state comes to being a genuine “Mr. Clean.” His record of achievement in the public sector is admirable. The fact that he is not a typical politician makes him a more desirable candidate.
Not to be overlooked is Daggett’s earning the endorsement of the New Jersey Sierra Club, the leading environmental organization in the state, that recognized “his integrity and outstanding environmental record.”
Running as an Independent, presents Daggett with a grueling uphill fight but he has shown no fear or signs of retreating. This gives me more reason to support him and believe that he’ll not only be the victor come election day but also become the governor New Jersey desperately needs.

What happened! Usually, you make sense, in my opinion anyway.
I don't know if they bet on these things in Vegas or London -- but if they do, the odds against Daggett have to be 25-1 or more.
If Daggett is a small government guy, he certainly did not come across that way when I saw him on CNN Lou Dobbs a week or so ago (flippin' channels only). His elevator speech seemed to be "I'm not a Dem or a Rep, therefore vote for me." Nothing about what he thinks is wrong or what he'd change.

you know, it was one thing when you were the crazy guy telling everyone you were going to win the GOP primary last year, because no candidate is supposed to say "they can't win" but come on, you and I both know Chris Daggett will not be the governor of New Jersey come January. He doesnt have the time to make up the ground, and even if he did, his ballot position in 18 of 21 counties will severely hurt his chances to top even 10%.
