By Michael P. RiccardsI enjoy watching Governor Sara Palin, either in person or being impersonated. She is delightfully ill-informed and marvelously programmed, sort of like a Stepford wife. You ask her if the sky is blue, she will give you the deer in the headlight look and then repeat what somebody told her about something. She has a fabulous memory to remember what she has been prepped for by McCain lobbyist-politicians. Unfortunately her responses are often not related to the questions, as poor Katie Couric has learned.
Now John McCain insists on telling us about his long and truly distinguished record of heroism and patriotism. It is a real record. But he has abused his beloved nation, by giving us Governor Palin. At 72, he must be more sensitive to the succession issue than say John F. Kennedy was at 43. We never know what is in store, but can you imagine a President Palin entrusted with nuclear weapons? She is all ready to extend our nucelar umbrella to Georgia, (the nation not the state) which means she blithely acknowledged war with Russia. I hope that the hour and half talk she had with Dr. Kissinger wised her up. This is serious stuff, even for a McCain who loves to sing bomb, bomb, bomb to the tune of the Beach Boys. No wonder Putin is disturbed by American intentions, and the loony in Iran wants his own nuclear toys.
For eight years, we have laughed at President Bush's stupid remarks, now we are paying the price for that leadership in war and now in recession. Perhaps we need to realize that who is president and vice president is critical. Russia for example is important in our calculations, even if I cannot see it from my porch while I skin a moose.

Again from The Hall Institute Web Site “The Hall Institute is a non-partisan, not-for-profit foundation established to explore social, economic, educational and cultural issues.” I would suggest that they reword there site to state “The Hall Institute is a partisan, for-personal-profit foundation established to expand the pathetic policies of the dumbocraps and the failed administration of John cHWOREzine.”

1. Enough about the Hall Institute. Please post appropriately with content-based analysis. Riccards has valid points that may genuinely impact November 4th.

I am not sure what is being said about these men who give money and time to charities. But before the veiled critic attacks the Institute he should be aware that the executive director was a contributor to Mitt Romney when that Republican ran for governor, supported Republican William Weld for governor in Massachusetts and supported his successor Paul Cellucci for governor, was appointed to the New Mexico endowment for the humanities by Republican Garry Carruthers, and gave the Lincoln day dinner speech in eastern West Virginia. Now having dispelled this stereotype can we talk seriously about the vice presidency.

But back to Palin. My problem with her isn't that she's not smart. She seems like a pretty competent person. My problem is that she just doesn't know anything and it painfully shows every time she opens her mouth.
John McCain, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden are all very well versed on our country's issues, domestic and foreign. Well I prefer some of those men to the other, I would feel pretty confident with them running the show. On the other hand, having Sarah Palin as President would be like having a six-year old driving your car. They just wouldn't know what to do, and it would be painfully, and possibly fatally, obvious.

Just my thoughts
I find it interesting that liberals are very critical of a woman new to the national political scene. Why I believe the criticism is so strong:
1) you forgot that having a "regular" gal or guy is the basis of a representative democracy. We have become so used to having polished, professional politicians giving us double-speak instead of beliefs from the heart. Many cannot give credit to a normal American who shows the qualities of thought, belief, and moral values as the basis of her candidacy instead of polish, political-speak, lawyer-speak, and weak willed cowtowing to the liberal media.
2) Liberals, especially those that characterize them as supporting women's rights, cannot admit that it has nothing to do with the equality or social/professional progress of women, it is 100% a one issue belief system, and that belief is purely about abortion. Women are no longer important, it is about the right to abort babies at will, and with the preference that this procedure (some would say crime) of ending the life of a child (or in the case of Obama, even if that baby's life is outside the woman's body resulting from a botched abortion).
3) liberals cannot undertand or respect a woman that enjoys hunting, fishing, giving birth to a child of special needs, supporting a daughter who wishes to give birth to her child (regardless of the circumstances).
I think that's enought for now, I think my point is made. Liberals simply don't share the same moral values that Gov. Palin represents, which are indeed shared throughout most of this country.

4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.
5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.
6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.
7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people's health insurance coverage -- they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false
8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska -- she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it's not a windfall profits tax.
9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO's International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.
10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation -- he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.
11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.
12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.
13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”
14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won't pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

Each day, and each new revelation, from Palin accepting gifts as a public official in Wasilla to her thinly-veiled attempt at censorship at a public library, reveals Palin to be one of the most uninformed and ill-prepared vice presidential candidates in American history. McCain's capacity for sound judgment absolutely must be brought into question with the Palin pick, and he admits to only meeting her twice before picking her and even "googling" her.
McCain's incompetence, however, is not what is at stake here. Palin's radical ideology is what should be the focus, as she has said, in bizarre terminology, that the Iraq War is a "task from God," argued that global warming isn't man-made, believes that abortion should be legal, even when sexual assault occurs, and wants to change the Constitution to ban gay marriage. Surely, our country can do better than her smug provincialism and fundamentalist ideology.
