-- Nearly 3,000 individual contributions!
LONEGAN FILES FOR MATCHING FUNDS
WITH $384,450.35 -- $45,000 OVER TARGET
TRENTON -- Republican gubernatorial candidate and former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan filed for more than a half million dollars in matching funds today, submitting an application with nearly $400,000 raised from close to 3,000 individual contributions.
With matching funds, the achievement will put the Lonegan campaign at close to One Million Dollars in total receipts.
“Because you helped, I was able to file my application for matching funds this morning, topping the $340,000 threshold by nearly $45,000,” Lonegan said this afternoon in an email to supporters.
“Thanks to you, I filed a report with $384,450.35 in contributions from nearly 3,000 individuals,” Lonegan said, noting that if all these donations qualify, the campaign would receive a matching funds check for $550,900.70, bringing total receipts to $935,351.05. The first $109,000 in contributions is not matched.
“To say that I am honored and impressed by the support this campaign has received is an understatement. The response to our message of lower taxes, less spending, smaller government and an end to the anti-business climate of the McGreevey-Codey-Corzine years has been simply overwhelming,” Lonegan explained.
Lonegan said that the campaign’s main activity now will move into the area of campaign organization with Bergen County’s organizational meeting -- the fourth in a series across the state -- scheduled for 7 pm tonight at the Paramus Elks.
“While our campaign’s main focus tonight shifts from fundraising to ground organization, we’re continuing our push for money and I intend to raise another $50,000 before the next submission on January 20th,” Lonegan said. “We are reaching our goals and our team gets bigger and stronger by the day. Republicans across New Jersey are seeing that it’s time for a change -- time for a conservative change.”
