The Mercer County Building and Construction Trades Council of the AFL-CIO this morning voted to unanimously endorse Republican Bill Baroni for the 14th district State Senate seat. The council represents local building construction trades, including the politically powerful plumbers, electrical workers and bricklayers unions. They had endorsed Baroni and Democrat Linda Greenstein in the 2005 Assembly race.
Baroni also picked up the endorsement of UniteHere! Local 54 of the AFL-CIO, which represents casino worers and hotel employees, including the Trenton Marriott.Â
"During Bill Baroni's distinguished service in the Assembly, he has stood with our members and he has proven his commitment to New Jersey's working families by supporting our members during the historic shutdown of the casinos last year in Atlantic City," said Local 54 President Robert McDevitt. "Bill is a strong legislator and a formidable advocate for working families. We look forward to his presence and voice in the Senate."
