Holmdel, NJ – Congressional Candidate Alan Bateman (NJ-12) today announced that he will be unveiling a new and comprehensive plan to reduce transportation and energy costs for New Jerseyans. The plan will be made public at a campaign press conference with Senator Joseph Kyrillos (NJ-13) on Tuesday September 23th at 2:00 p.m. in the Commuter Parking Lot adjacent to Garden State Parkway Exit 109, Woodland Drive, Lincroft. “The high cost of driving is one of many things hurting the quality of life in New Jersey,” said Bateman. “We need leaders in Washington who will put partisanship aside and fix this problem.” The Bateman plan will call for an overturning of the federal moratorium on off-shore drilling, returning the decision to individual states. “If other states want to make investments to lower prices at the pump, why should Washington stop them?” said Bateman. Beyond drilling, the plan calls for a commitment to alternative energy, including 25% of energy coming from renewable sources by 2025. These sources include bio fuels, solar, wind, and nuclear power. “We must pursue every option for alternative energy,” said Bateman. “Unfortunately the same old politicians in Washington are preventing anything from happening. It is more of the same old politics that New Jerseyans are tired of.” Bateman’s plan also calls on New Jersey’s lawmakers to reject Governor Corzine’s 800-percent and 150-percent toll hike schemes which violate the state constitution, according to Bateman. “The Corzine-Holt toll hike plan unconstitutionally takes money from drivers today that are squeezed more than ever before,” said Bateman. “I am proud to announce my plan to stop taxing and spending with a man who has led the fight for lower taxes, Senator Kyrillos.” ###
