Micco: The Record's "Shortchanged Again" Should be Catalyst for Change in Ninth District
Rutherford, New Jersey-Responding to a front-page feature in The Record titled "Shortchanged Again," that documents New Jersey being dead-last in return on the federal taxes it sends to Washington, Republican businessman and congressional candidate Vince Micco said this is another clear reason why the Ninth District needs a new voice in Congress.
"We are getting a pathetic sixty-one cents back for every dollar we send to Washington, and are now at the absolute bottom of list in money we get back. This disparity is causing our state's transportation system to fall into serious disrepair, our homeland security to be under--funded, our state government to be in a consistent state of shortfall and our residents to struggle with a crippling tax burden. We need a better, flatter tax system and to eliminate wasteful earmarks in order for New Jersey to once again be secure and prosperous." Micco said.
Micco pledged: "If you elect me as your congressman I will fight every day for fiscal responsibility, and for families from Hawthorne to the Jersey City Heights to get back more of their hard-earned money. The only way the Ninth District will not get shortchanged again is to change from twelve years of empty promises from Steve Rothman that has left New Jerseyans with little more than pocket change!"
