NEWARK - Wading through the "I love you's" as he stands at the microphone on a raised platform in the middle of the Rock, President Barack Obama derides the opposition as an outfit selling a failed economic model.
"That didn't start under Jon's watch's or under my watch," Obama says of the national recession. "I wasn't sworn in yet. There's a little selective memory going on; a little amnesia about how we got into this mess.
"We're in this because of the same trickle-dwn economics the other guy's party has been peddling for years," he adds, praising incumbent Gov. Jon Corzine as a "leader who's put ordinary folks ahead of politics.".
In the 2008 presidential contest in New Jersey, 900,000 more voters than the usual 1.2 million that catapult a statewide candidate to victory turned out for Obama.
"We will not lose this election if all of you are as committed as you were last year," Obama tells the roaring crowd.
At the end of the speech, state Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-Teaneck) and Newark Mayor Cory Booker join Obama and Corzine onstage.

"Don't let facts get in the way"...Corzine '09
Two Things
1. Jon Corzine wouldn't know ordinary folks if he tripped over them on his way to pick up soy no fat latte
2. The fact that 11 months into his term Obama is still blaming everything on Bush is evidence of his desparation. The bloom is off the rose, he's been shown to be nothing more than a well-spoken huckster. He has no ideas and no ability to lead. Prime time speeches and high handed rhetoric may get you votes the first time but they won't get you re-elected. Jon Corzine is going to find that out when the people of new jersey really do hold him accountable. Barack Obama will find it out 3 years from Tuesday when he takes his place in history next to Jimmy Carter - Perhaps they can compare Nobel Peace Prizes.
Corzine
Hasn't Corzine been the one to benefit most because of Republican economic policies? I find it funny he is criticizing them. And I still love how Democrats blame Republicans for the economic crisis. They have been in charge of Congress since 2007. Aren't there co-equal branches of government? Judicial, Legislative, and Executive branches?
The government can only control the economy to a certain extent. The economy has to recover on its own. The Democrats policies will make things WORSE.
Site of event is ironic...
Corzine has his final event with Obama at the Prudential Center - how fitting. The Prudential Center was built with taxpayer dollars. Instead of using its Port Authority settlement money for improving the housing stock, fixing ailing water and sewer infrastructure, improving its awful schools or reducing property taxes, Newark used over $200 mm to build an arena and give it to private developers. I guess Corzine and Obama would call this using public money to generate economic stimulus - the rest of us would call it a waste of taxpayer dollars. By the way, who paid for all security - Newark Police, State Police, etc for Obama to visit twice soley for political purposes. Why, the taxpayers of course!
Corzine smear campaign continues.
I never thought I would ever call a candidate for office EVIL. But, having seen the lies and distortions in Corzine's TV ads forces me to call this man EVIL. If there is a hell then Jon Corzine deserves to get scorthed big time. He is obviously man without an once of moral character.
So confident that he is making misleading robocalls

Pookie???
NY Times is reporting -
During his 24-minute talk, he told the enthusiastic audience to not only vote themselves but also prod their friends and relatives to go to the polls.
“You’re going to need to get Cousin Pookie off the couch and say ‘Pookie, it’s time to go vote,’ ”Mr. Obama said. “You’ve all got a Cousin Pookie. You know whom I’m talking about.”
Imagine if Bush had said anything like this?
