Courier News endorses GOP in 22nd District
By Max Pizarro, PolitickerNJ.com ReporterThe Courier News has endorsed Republicans Bo Vastine and Marty Marks over incumbent Democrats Assemblywoman Linda Stender (D-Fanwood) and Assemblyman Jerry Green (R-Plainfield) in the 22nd Legislative District race.
"Marks in particular offers a valuable perspective on how the state's policy mistakes translate into additional problems on the local level," the editorial noted of the former Scotch Plains mayor. "His service in the Scotch Plains government includes years of frustration over the effects of Civil Service regulations, arbitration rules and union excesses on local budgets. He would bring to Trenton the proper sense of urgency in correcting systemic flaws that drive up the costs of government in the state."

Shocking!
The Gannet papers whose editorial page is handled out of the Asbury Park Press office endorses the Republican.
They were a GOP-leaning paper before the shift -- it's just blatant now.
Excellent decision, but obvious
Stender and Green have been a disaster for LD22 and New Jersey. They need to go.
As stated in the editorial:
"And during their years as a team, all of which have been under complete Democratic control of the Statehouse, New Jersey has been barreling over a cliff of fiscal irresponsibility.
Green and Stender are part of the problem. There's no way around that."
"Green and Stender are precisely the types of enabling Democrats who should be weeded out of the Assembly."
I think they stated the facts and hit on all the major points.

I've said all along that ld22 was a race to watch. Courier and Di Marco are on point here. Green and Stender have been a disaster for NJ and there are intra-district issues that will hurt them. This editorial was pretty harsh. Expect this one to be real close and possibly undecided on Election Night
the Gannett crusade
Gannett is on a crusade this year to rid New Jersey of Democrats. Their editorials are not to be taken seriously by voters. The reality is that these newspapers are gasping for their last breath of air and relevance. These editorials are now the product of one or two fringe reporters that managed to survive the 50 rounds of layoffs. This endorsement is really an opinion piece and should not be dignified with the title "editorial."
I guess this is another case of
if you don't like the message, blame the messenger.
Even if what you said is true, we still don't have balance with all the crap that is spewed by the likes of the New York Times, the Star Ledger and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
