WILLINGBORO - Introduced here as the "man who discovered Barack Obama," Gov. Jon Corzine sprinted through a pompom crosscut to the strains of a local rendition of Tina Turner's "Simply the Best" and bounded onto the recreation center stage.
"We've got to say 'no' everytime someone says he didn't deserve the Nobel Prize," Corzine said of the president, who is scheduled to stump for the governor in Hackensack on Wednesday with just over two weeks remaining in the gubernatorial contest.
Onetime chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) that recruited Obama to run for the U.S. Senate in 2004, Corzine was happy to take credit in front of this "Fired up Fish Fry" crowd that last year contributed to Willingboro registering 92% of its vote for the successful Democratic Party nominee for president.
"Barack Obama received 16,500 votes in Willingboro last year," said the governor, who's neck-and-neck now with GOP gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie in his own Nov. 3rd contest. "I don't think we're going to get 16,500, but we're going to get into the double digits."
While Corzine zigzagged up from South Jersey Saturday, his running mate, state Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-Teaneck), covered North Jersey on a route that finished last night on a stage with visiting U.S. Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-CA.) and Assemblywoman Annette Quijano (D-Elizabeth), who packed a roomful of Latinas at an Elizabeth bar and restaurant.

“She has already chosen the interests of the insurance industry over the health care needs of working people, she took millions from Wall Street as the economy went into a meltdown, and now she wants to purchase a job in Congress at a time when so many have lost their jobs because of the actions of big bankers and others." -- Monmouth County Democrats spokesman Mike Mangan, on Republican Diane Gooch, who is challenging U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone.

The man who discovered Barack Obama
The man who discovered Barack Obama... and then proceeded to aggressively campaign for his Presidential primary opponent until the very end.
Just proves the point.
JK1150 couldn't of said it better...
Jon Corzine will not get anywhere near the numbers that were seen for Barack Obama, the same will be said for next years midterm elections. If Obama is not on the top of the ticket, the good MAJORITY of Willingboro will not be out to vote.
What a crock!
Yeah right Corswine discovered Barack Obama. He discovered Obama the day after it was clear that Hillary Clinton would not get the Democratic nomination. This guy is so full of BS that his eyeballs are brown.
I hope people don't buy this crap and vote Corswine out of office on Nov. 3.
