Chris Christie Campaign Consultant Mike DuHaime this afternoon countered the “Democrat Party’s” latest attack ad against his gubernatorial candidate: an estimated $900,000, one-week television buy that highlights the Wall Street entanglements of Christie’s younger brother and suggests the former U.S. Attorney improperly used his connections to bail him out of trouble.
DuHaime blamed Corzine, describing him as a Wall Street multimillionaire who’s thrown a lot of money around in his party and who now must rely on the intervention of attack dog front groups like the Mid-Atlantic Leadership Fund, which purchased the ad. The governor’s still behind Christie in the latest Quinnipiac University poll, 45% to 38%, a margin widened from seven points in a poll conducted by the same outfit a month ago.
“This week is a stark reminder of how Jon Corzine operates,” DuHaime said. “Taxes are up, unemployment is up… The only thing going down are his polls numbers. Clearly this is an effort to influence the Republican Primary. Jon Corzine may have bought the Democrat Party, but he will not buy the Republican Party.”
The Christie Campaign is set to respond with its own New York and Philadelphia television ad, featuring their candidate speaking straight into the camera. “If we want to change Trenton, we have to change governors,” DuHaime said.
Joined on a teleconference call with reporters, Campaign Manager Bill Stepien and Christie’s campaign chairman, state Sen. Joseph Kyrillos (R-Middletown), DuHaime said the rival party’s ad – launched with a week and a half to go in the Republican Primary – shows desperation and fear motivating “the Democrat Party to influence this primary.” Here he also threw a jab at rival primary candidate Steve Lonegan as he concluded that Democrats are spending money now because they would much rather have a contrast with Lonegan, “who wants to raise taxes on folks by 70%.”
In a general election, DuHaime said Democrats would trust in the chances of a tax-and-spend Democrat over a tax-and-spend Republican.
Kyrillos stayed on Corzine when he spoke, calling the ad “inexplicable on a week when we have seen the worst budget ever in New Jersey in which the governor proposes higher taxes – again - the elimination of property tax rebates for nearly everyone, and a $2 billion line of credit from his friends on Wall Street.”
“There is a tremendous disconnect shown by this governor between what people are facing heading into Memorial Day weekend and the nasty, false attack ads choreographed in Washington, D.C.,” Kyrillos said.
Concerning a U.S. Congressional Subcommittee’s efforts to get Christie to testify to the role he played in administering federal monitoring contracts while he served as U.S. Attorney, including how he awarded a contract to former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York David Kelley, who pursued prosecutions against alleged Wall Street scammers but didn’t go after Todd Christie, DuHaime said his candidate has not yet committed to testifying.
The timing of the Subcommittee’s headline-generating request followed by the attack ad on the same subject demonstrates a “coordinated Democrat attack,” said DuHaime.
To a question by Star-Ledger reporter Josh Margolin about whether DuHaime and Christie intend to denounce the intrusion by shadow groups like the Mid Atlantic Leadership Fund and similar Republican groups in the coming general election campaign, DuHaime said, “I will not unilaterally disarm or ask others to unilaterally disarm… not while the other side is firing missiles as we speak.”
Garden State Equality fires new broadside at Dems Smarting over the state Senate's refusal to pass marriage equality and disillusioned at the moment with the Democratic Party majority, Garden State Equality’s 85-member Board of Directors unanimously decided against giving financial contributions to political parties and their affiliated committees. ...
“We will work harder and smarter to protect consumers, to preserve civil rights, to effectively regulate the alcoholic beverage industry, to ensure that the integrity of New Jersey’s casino gaming industry continues, to keep drives, passengers and pedestrians safe on our streets, to assist victims of crimes, and to remember always the importance of juvenile justice on issues affecting the state." -- Attorney General-designate Paula Dow, at her Senate confirmation hearing.

Vote for Lonegan -Why should
Vote for Lonegan
-Why should the voters vote for a Republican who acts like a Democrat ... when they can get the real thing?
-The only difference between Corzine and Christie is that you will be paying for the Regular Republican party hacks instead of the Democrat hacks.
-If Christie wins the primary I am undecided who to vote for in the November ... It will be either PA, NC or FL.
-Christie/Corzine wants to increase the school year and the school day ... and increase your property taxes.
-Christie wants to cut taxes, give rebates, and hire all his buddies. No wonder he problems with Math in school, it doesn't add up.
Marxism
Jon Corzine and Chris Christie are both Marxists who support the progressive income tax: "Nevertheless in the most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable: A heavy progressive or graduated income tax." -Karl Marx, The Communist Manifesto. Steve Lonegan's flat tax plan will bring jobs back to this state and end redistributionism and Marxism.
Just who is running scared ?
Christie is over 30 points ahead and wants unity on June 3rd ? give us a break.
I just got the latest anti Lonegan hate mail about illegals. Christie is turning out to be just another nasty liberal.
Because any true Republican with such a lead would not do that to one of their own>>???
Paramus
I just got that mailer today. wow, I dont see any unity after June 3rd.From a guy that says illegals coming here is not a crime and refuses to call them criminals.
This is as low as it gets. I expect this
only from Democrats.
There will be no unity in the GOP
Christie and company hate Steve Lonegan more than they want to beat Jon Corzine.
DuHaime and friends are alienating thousands of conseratives by the day who will stay home in the fall...
There willl be no unity breakfast on June 3rd.
Vote Column "A" - All the way!
Works both ways guys
Frankly, I hope CC does not have a unity thing with SL. It will only hurt the GOP in the fall. I haven't seen the mailer, but I hope it tells the truth about SL and his October 2007 hiring of illegals for campaign sign purposes and his lying about the incident.
Laughable
Hypocrisy knows no bounds for the Lonegan crew commenting here.
Are you kidding?
This is the same campaign that put out "Republican News" and has a TV ad comparing Christie to Corzine, mailers about Jim Florio, and tabloids that did nothing but slam Christie.
Whine all you want, for once we have an aggressive candidate that will bury any competition. Unity was compromised after your candidate dragged Christie and his brother through the mud.
And he'll be dragged through the mud again in the fall
And rightly so...
Vote Column "A"- All the way!

Lonegan's Little Whiners
It seems that when a candidate is trailing by more than 20 points the only hope is to cry and scream until you get your way. Clearly no one realizes the only way to defeat Democrats in New Jersey is to take the fight to them. New Jersey is not a state where saying please and thank you get you elected. It seems that Christie stated the truth about Lonegan and sometimes the truth hurts especially when you're already down. Was the mailer necessary and called for? Maybe not but NJ politics isn't golf where the only dirt you get is from picking up your ball. It dirty and tough but only the strong survive in NJ, and Christie is a strong guy.
http://lwschoolhouse.blogspot.com/
Laughable again
Unlike the Lonegan campaign which operates day to day based on how many people sent back their dollars, a real campaign plans out it's mail and media a couple of weeks in advance. So to use this weeks polls as a reason why the mailer shouldn't be sent, truly shows why amateurs the Lonegan people truly are. They were happy to lie and distort for months and now cry over being exposed as frauds. Laughable.
Anyone who has read
Anyone who has read Lonegan's book, Putting Taxpayers First and saw the Christie interview on NJN in December will vote for Lonegan. Many will never vote for Christie. the Democrats in November will not be thrilled with a George Bush insider who has one scandal after another. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mhx6cTXs_xw&feature=channel_page

Steve Lonegan is a hypocrite on taxes, immigration and now, even eminent domain.
Russ:
"Anyone who has read Lonegan's book, Putting Taxpayers First and saw the Christie interview on NJN in December will vote for Lonegan."
Which is everybody who already had their mind made up to vote for Lonegan in the first place which isn't many people at all. What's your point?
I personally don't want unity with the Lonegan nuts and it was very gratifying to see Christie take one last parting shot to bury him once and for all. He totally deserved it. Keep these people, starting with that schlamozzle Jesse Kurtz in Atlantic City, as far away from the Christie campaign as possible. They're nothing but a poison and there aren't enough of them to matter anyway.
I have one thing to say to the Lonegan crowd once all is said and done.
F#!k you and the horse you rode in on!

Scandals Russ? Grow up
You really are a scary person. What scandals? That he saved taxpayers and shareholders hundreds of millions of dollars in using DPA's vs driving the companies into bankruptcy and killing hundreds of thousands of shareholders. The contracts weren't no bid--because there was NO taxpayer money involved---you people should understand terms before using them. His brother wasn't fined or sanctioned by the SEC which has a lower level of proof then a criminal court. So thats why he wasn't indicted.
Desperate people do desperate things---Lonegan and his supporters are exhibit A of that. The people of NJ are looking for proven leadership with sensible plans for NJ. Not the foolish/dangerous ideas(that don't even add up)that the EX Mayor has put forward. Reminder...you're down 20 points and have little money---its so bad that the Democrats, who you hate, are coming in to help. What a shame.
In terms of Corzine, he will sink on his pathetic record. NJ won't fall for a third Corzine negative campaign.

I guess there will be a shortage of kool-aid on June 3. Nobody cares if a few thousand crackpot conservatives stay home in November and play with themselves, especially if Christie attracts support from many thousands more moderate dems and independents.
I don't think any Republican can beat Corzine in November. New Jersey never has been and never will be a conservative state so pragmatic conservatives and crackpot conservatives can throw sand at each other like a couple of immature schoolboys on the beach while the lifeguard walks away with the girls.
Philly INquirer
Great article on how Christie is way up in the polls and has a little pic of stevie trying to look some what governatorial. They are not going to target first time young voters - I wonder why?? Is it because they are too young to know the real lonegan? Easily swayed? I think so. But the paper had one very interested point. They talked about a heads up election between Christie and Corzined whereby Christie is way ahead. Why didnt they do the same in a heads up between Stevie and Corzine?? Case closed because THEY know Lonegan has no chance!
I was driving home from work
I was walking home from work the other day and I think I saw Steve Lonegan eating out of a trash can. I could be wrong, but it looked a lot like him. He was mumbling about a "flat tax", and stuffing his mouth with old pizza crusts.
(I shouldn't make comments like that. I'm sorry, but you Lonegan guys have spent weeks being SO NEGATIVE. Even now, Lonegan is saying Christie lives in fantasy land, that he's corrupt, that he can't count, etc. He's twenty points behind and yet he's STILL ATTACKING CONSTANTLY. Lonegan's campaign has been in the gutter).
Well Said!
Lonegan is a loser, a self centered egotistical little man who would rather push his own ego than the good of the state!

RE: Temper Tantrums
I suspect poor Clifford Case was lying face down in a bowl of RINO chow and missed the April 15 Tax Day Tea parties. Or, perhaps, he's in denial.
Whatever the case, Clifford ought to disabuse himself of the delusion that conservative Republicans are either crackpots or few in number. Enough of them stayed home in November or voted for third party candidates to cost McCain the election.
Having realized that their own party has consistently betrayed them since 2000, they are determined to never again be taken for granted. Never again will they hold their noses and vote for the RINO.
Here's a news flash, Cliff: if Christie wins on June 2, savor the flavor while you can because on November 3 he'll be toast.
As a matter of political fact, no RINO ever won without the support of the conservative base - and this time around, they will be looking to clean their claws.
no RINO ever won without the support of the conservative?
"As a matter of political fact, no RINO ever won without the support of the conservative base - and this time around, they will be looking to clean their claws".--Manlyrash
And likewise, no conservative has won a statewide race in New Jersey...EVER. The GOP tried doing it with Bret Schundler and they lost to McGreevey by 14%. It's because of the right-wing base that New Jersey hasn't elected a Republican to the Senate since 1972 (the year Clifford Case won his last reelection). A right-winger named Jeffrey Bell defeated Case in a primary and then went on to lose in the general to Bill Bradley. Since then, there hasn't been a Republican representing New Jersey in the Senate. Why? Because the right-wing base felt they needed to cut off their nose to spite their face.
Re: roryar on RINOs
McGreevey narrowly lost to Whitman after she turned RINO. Schundler lost to McGreevey because the RINO GOP knifed him in the back. Forrester was a RINO who veered right during the primary and then back to left in the general election campaign.
If by "right wing" you mean Reaganite conservatives or those who would vote for a Reaganite platform, then I guess you forget to count the two times New Jersey voted for Reagan in 1980 and 1984.
The fact is that the GOP in this state is lost and has fallen into the squishy middle way - which is no way at all. It cost McCain the 2008 election and, if he is nominated, it will cost Christie the 2009 election.
The time has come for the New Jersey GOP to choose whether it will be the party of Ronald Reagan or the party of Colin Powell.
If it chooses Powell, then kiss off any hope of ever seeing a Republican in office in New Jersey again. For that matter, kiss off New Jersey - because by the end of Corzine's second term of office most of the productive taxpayers will have fled the state - leaving the Donks and the RINOs to console each other in a federally-bailed out socialist cesspool.
To ManlyRash
The fact that Reagan carried this state means very little, considering that Reagan won EVERYWHERE (largely because people felt bad for him after he got shot). The fact that at the time, New Jersey's governor was Tom Keane, a beacon of the moderate Republican, is what matters.
Christie Whitman won two terms in a blue state--that's no small accomplishment for a Republican running in a statewide race here and you know that. For a Republican to win by even 1% in a state controlled overwhelmingly by Democrats and where Democrats have a voter registration edge, is a very significant accomplishment.
Also, you forget that until the Democrats pulled a switch and got Lautenberg to jump in at the last minute, Forrester beating Torricellie (sp?) in the polls. What happened to him when he ran against Corzine is different. He fell victim to a voting pattern that's been in place since the early nineties: since the early nineteen nineties, the states of New Jersey and Virginia have voted for which ever gubernatorial candidate was a member of the opposite party of the president. In other words, Florio was voted in the year after Bush41, Whitmann was voted in after Clinton, McGreevey was voted in the year after Bush43 was elected, etc. Democrats win the New Jersey governorship if there's a Republican president and same is true vice versa.
The fact is the State is a
The fact is the State is a disaster from a long history of both Democrat and Republican clowns. If something is not done the higher earners (and not so high) are going to leave and NJ won't be able to pay the bills.
Christie can't do it and neither can Corzine. The money is just going to go to a different set of hacks. Lonegan is the only chance of doing anything at all.
Russ--easier to spew lies than answer to facts
Lonegan has some very specific proposals with numbers that DON'T ADD UP !! You probably can't fact check them Russ because you are too busy "stalking" Christie on radio and alleged personal appearances. EX Mayor Lonegan proposes a flat tax which by his own admission will raise taxes on over 50%---real number 70% and 75% of senior citizens....If thats what you call our chance to do anything at all I'll pass.
Christie will roll by double digits in 10 days and hopefully you will live up to your vow to move out of state. Good riddance.
Laugh for the Weekend!!
Thank you Stevie and his minyons!
I just got the New Jersey Republican News which is a lying piece of garbage news letter with a title deceiving people. This is all about the "great" little stevie lonegan!
I went through it and all this little lying weasel does is LIE LIE LIE he spends more time BASHING good GOP like Gulaiani, Chris Smith, Schundler et al and basically tries to tear them apart because THESE GOOD MEN DIDNT EDNORSE LONEGANS LITTLE WEASEL BUTT!
So after about a good page + of stevie having a meltdown bashing these folks, he then talks about HIMSELF BEING THE ONLY real conservative in NJ. Why? because Stevie says so.
The next few pages are nothing more than bla bla bla lies on taxes comparing himself to christie but NOTHING about what he will do against Corzine! Hello?
Then the final page which I laughed out loud was "JOIN MAYOR LONEGAN FOR HIS VICTORY LAP AROUND THE STATE>" VICTORY LAP????
The only Victory Lap will be when we send stevie back home where he belongs, until the next time and you know there will be a next time he rears his head to boost his ego.
Big deal
"If by "right wing" you mean Reaganite conservatives or those who would vote for a Reaganite platform, then I guess you forget to count the two times New Jersey voted for Reagan in 1980 and 1984."
That was thirty years ago. Besides Reagan could have run as a liberal Democrat and still won because of his charismatic personality and charm that appealed to voters across the political spectrum.
"I suspect poor Clifford Case was lying face down in a bowl of RINO chow and missed the April 15 Tax Day Tea parties. Or, perhaps, he's in denial."
Give me a break. Those "tea parties" were a joke. A handful of disgruntled misfits with nothing better to do than stand around for a couple of hours and pose for cameras. There are three million voters in New Jersey and not more than a thousand showed up for this nonsense.
"Whatever the case, Clifford ought to disabuse himself of the delusion that conservative Republicans are either crackpots or few in number. Enough of them stayed home in November or voted for third party candidates to cost McCain the election."
And where were those same crackpot conservatives before McCain got the nomination in the first place? The fact is wingnuts can't even win nationally in their own party (and don't give me that Reagan crap; I've already stated his personality made the difference). Let's see, after Reagan there was George I in 1988 and 1992, Bob Dole in 1996, George II in 2000 and 2004 and McCain in 2008. So how did these RINOS get nominated in the first place if wingnuts are so important. If wingnuts mattered Pat Buchanan or Jack Kemp would have been the nominee in 1996, Steve Forbes or Dan Quayle in 2000, and Mike Huckebee or Fred Thompson in 2008. Of course, Alan Keyes could have won in any of the years, and even managed to participate in debates with George Bush and John McCain in 2000. So what's with the Keyester these days?
This board shows what the
This board shows what the Christie people are like. just read their stuff and then talk to the people in the community.
The Christie supporters are worse than the ACORN members. Just talk to them and try to get an answer on anything. All they know how to do is make up phony stuff to try to scare old people. They are either some hack looking for a job or an idiot with low IQ ... just like the people Christie prosecuted.
Then talk to the Lonegan supports in the community. They are much more educated.
Re: Clifford Case
Clifford says: "Those "tea parties" were a joke. A handful of disgruntled misfits with nothing better to do than stand around for a couple of hours and pose for cameras. There are three million voters in New Jersey and not more than a thousand showed up for this nonsense."
Denial is a terrible - and in your case, politically fatal - thing. For every single patriot who showed up to protest on April 15 there were dozens who could not.
Here's the deal, Cliffie: assuming he's nominated, your boy is gonna lose in November. And we will be be the ones responsible for that loss. Without us you hacks are toast.
The time for scorched earth has come. Prepare yourself. When the dust clears all that will be left is you, your RINO butt boys and your Donkey masters. I suggest you get yourself fitted for knee pads...you'll need them.
Rash
Your cocky, pathetic, self serving comments are exhibit A of why Lonegan has NEVER won outside of Bogota. Siding with the ACLU is not conservative. Proposing a tax cut on an admitted minimum of 50% of the citizens isn't conservative. Sending our a newspaper which is deceiving in it's title and content is not conservative. This entire Lonegan campaign has been about Steve Lonegans ego and has resulted in a complete waste of taxpayer money. Congrats to you. Your scorched earth etc comments are laughable
On the Hazards of Drunk Blogging
My dear Gorednj, it doesn't bode well for your argument that you are already drinking this early in the day. That - or you simply cannot spell. Remember PIYF - Preview Is Your Friend.
Even the ACLU can be correct from time to time. Knee jerk opposition to every single thing they do hardly defines conservatism.
I think you meant "tax increase" not "tax cut." In any case, the equalizing the tax burden for all and eliminating the progressive tax structure is a very conservative thing to do - even if it means some folks on the low end have to pay a little more. In this case, the highest dollar increase will amount to $442 per year - or $6.05 per week. Keep in mind that wage brackets are not static: generally people in the lower brackets tend to move up to higher brackets over time, just as many folks in minimum wage jobs eventually find work that pays more.
As for campaign tactics, they are they have always been. I suggest you crack open a good history book and study the presidential campaign of 1800 if you want to see what bare-knuckle campaigning is all about.
Better yet...sleep it off and have a cup of coffee in a couple hours, after you've sobered up.
Lol
Scorch the earth. Scorch the earth.
Chris Christie, Thy Name Is Arrogance
Wow! Very entertaining flame war going on in this comment thread.
It's also very enlightening: The Christie supporters are uniformly arrogant, and quite off-putting in the way they personally attack Steve Lonegan. They also show an open contempt for conservatives, conservatism, and conservative principles.
Apparently they view conservative ideas as a millstone around the Republican Party's neck. Something to move beyond. Apparently they view conservatives as somehow holding the party back from electoral victory, rather than as the cornerstone of their support.
A Republican Party that is not guided by conservative principles, that does not embrace them into it's legislative agenda, that merely gives lip service to conservative voters, is a party that is destined to go the way of the Whig Party.
Without conservatism, the Republican party becomes merely a country club, a clique of wealthy individuals that seek to hold poltical office for the sake of holding office. That was the same thing with the Whigs, and look at where they are today.
Patriots
"For every single patriot who showed up to protest on April 15 there were dozens who could not."
I agree. Based on these calculations I'll be generous and concede there were 100,000 "patriots" who wanted to show up but couldn't. That leaves about 2,900,000 other voters, or about 96% of the electorate, who wouldn't give a rat's rear end for this nonsense.
And 100,000 votes is about what I expect Looneygan will receive next week.
Assisi=4th Stooge
The three stooges are Lonegan, Shaftan and Schilp. Assisi is the fourth stooge. Image what a nice place the EPGOP (Elmwood Park) would be without Assisi stirring up his weekly trough of muck. Image how peaceful the Bergen YRs would be without that simpleton, Assisi, as a member.
If this teaches us nothing, it teaches us that the Lonegan campaign is filled with a bunch of stooges. Stooges who care more about themselves than the well being of the NJGOP.
And they say RINOs have cost the GOP election after election.
Kissenger
the only stooge around is you. Joe is a real Republican who has helped all good candidates for years. You are just another Christie Johnny Come lately would would not donate the steam off your urine to the party.

We embrace our conservative heritage and beliefs we just don't embrace you distorting hateful ways
WHAT A BAR ROOM BRAWL!
This is absolutely nuts, you've all resorted to nothing but calling names and throwing useless punches, because you're canceling each other out!! PLEASE, anybody who's still caring enough to be asking "Will the real conservative please stand up" GO READ BOTH CANDIDATES RECORDS FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS!!! Not ENDORSEMENTS, not attack mail, not talk-show talent, THE FACTS. Go look in the news archives. See scandal. See who. See WHY. One is because of dirty dealing, pay-to-play and ethic charges. As recently as FRIDAY!!!! The other one gets in trouble because of DEFENDING CONSERVATIVE VALUES AND PRINCIPLES. Ohhhh, how BAD. That's GREAT bad, you idiots! And he doesn't trot his Catholic wife and daughters out to pose for photo-ops or website pages to prove it, either. You know you're definitely having an effect, Lonegan, when no sooner do you make a statement than your opponent makes it his own. Don't anybody believe anything here, this is a schoolyard of 8th graders overloaded in political testosterone. GO READ!Look up the facts if you're a voter. Find out the truth. P.S. The onslaught of attack mail and robo-calls began with Christie. Lonegan is responding. Of COURSE they don't like it. We messed things up by telling the truth and fighting with FACTS.
Christie leads by 40pts amongst modertes.
The notion that New Jersey Republicans are somehow divided regarding who their candidate should be, is FALSE. Christopher Christie is an average of 20pts ahead in the polls--that's not the sign of a divided party. Steve Lonegan's problem is (a.) he went too negative and (b.)he doubled-down on appealing to the ultra right-wing element of the party and alienated himself from everyone else.
How far did he think he was going to get by making nasty claims that Christie can't count? He wants to veto funding for Planned Parenthood, he's called New Jersey "The crossroads of the revolution" against Obama/ socialism, having "Joe the Plumber" speak, etc. These sorts of tactics don't appeal to anyone outside the right-wing base and have done irreparable damage to his campaign, which had been showing momentum in the polls until this month. According to the recent Monmouth/Gannet poll, Lonegan is only leading Christie by 15pts amongst "staunch conservatives" and losing by an astounding 40pts amongst moderates. The fact that Christie is clobbering Longean amongst moderates by a margin of 58%-18% is killing Lonegan's campaign.
The real numbers on the
The real numbers on the Lonegan flat tax plan is at TaxpayersUnion.org
The Christie supporters never even read Lonegan's book, Putting Taxpayers First. Anyone who reads the book will vote for Lonegan. That is why they cannot come up with a legitimate argument against the plan.

First negative robo call----Lonegan the night before the Union County Convention
First Negative Mailer---Lonegan and his "Republican News"

Blah Blah Blah Not one prediction has come true...worse yet, Lonegan's team now relies on the Democrats they loathe to do their dirty work down the stretch---because they have little money.

Assisi---Paramus...please read the mailer
First---it was NOT a Christie mailer---it was Marcia Karrow. Second, did you bother to read it yourself or just read the Lonegan/Shaftan distortion? The mailer says that Doherty was the ONLY elected official to back Ron Paul. And then it listed Ron Paul's beliefs that we get out of IRAQ immediately. NOTHING called Doherty a traitor. This is classic Shaftan/Lonegan distortion and you people buy into it every time. Shame on them and shame on you. Paramus---post a picture---you better look like Jack LaLanne the way you through around the fat slob comment. In addition, Christie is anything but an elitest. You wouldn't know that though, because you don't care to get to know him. trust me, it's your loss.
Christie Wages Scorched Earth Primary Campaign
Yeah, I saw the hit piece mailer against Doherty that Karrow sent out. Do you really expect us to believe that this wasn't authorized by the Christie campaign? Do you really think we don't notice that the mailer is done in the same font and graphic design as the other mailers Jamestown Associates has used for the Christie campaign?
This sort of attack is indefensible. Doherty could have had any number of domestic policy reasons to support Ron Paul. It is NOT his current policy position that the U.S. "surrender" in Iraq. Therefore, the attack mailer is just plain calumny and character assassination on a veteran like Doherty. It is clearly designed to attack his pro-military credentials with a misleading smear.
This is not the sort of campaign one wages in a primary. This is the sort of campaign one wages against a viceral, eternal enemy with whom no future reconciliation is contemplated. This is the sort of campaign one wages to utterly destroy your opponent, not to merely best in honest debate with the view towards closing ranks after the Primary.
Interesting that the worst bile and invective has been directed by the Christie campaign at conservatives, instead of at Corzine. Perhaps that is because for RINOS like the GOP Establishment Party in NJ, they have more in common with the Nanny State Democrats than they do with Conservatives.
Every hit piece mailer that the Christie campaign authorizes, like the Karrow mailer against Doherty, is a slashing wound that will not be healed after the primary. Christie will face Corzine without conservative support come November at this rate.
ads
I admit that I havnt read the comments on this post, but has anyone seen the ads out lately. Christie says Corzine has done nothing but use negative attack ads for 10 years (crafty considering 10 yrs sounds more substantial than 2 elections). Thus, Chrisitie has already used negative ads. Conversly Corzine has only used positive ads in this race. Christie shouldve thought about that 1st.
