Republicans U.S. Rep Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-Harding) and U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-Hamilton) joined the entire Democratic Party congressional delegation from New Jersey to vote in favor of the $14 billion auto industry bailout tonight.
The bailout passed in the U.S. House by a vote of 237 to 170, mostly along party lines, with only 32 Republicans joining Democrats to vote in the affirmative.
U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-Vineland), U.S. Rep. Jim Saxton (R-Burlington), U.S. Rep. Mike Ferguson (R-New Providence) and U.S. Rep. Scott Garrett (R-Wantage) all voted against the bailout package.

Wow
Its a sad day when Republicans vote for socialism. Reps Frelinghuysen and Smith should be ashamed of themselves. I like them both personally very much, unfortunately this is a slap in the face to the 60 percent of Americans (and im sure an equal number in their districts) who do not want to see good money go after bad. I hope they are scorned for this in their districts and learn the error of their ways.
Frelinghuysen
This is the same loser who voted for the Financial bailout, lots of good that has done.
WHERE ARE THE REST OF THE PATRIOTS
When will this country and its leaders wake up to the fact that "FUNDS" are not the answer. Again we see the flip-floppers voting with the "BIG GOVERNMENT" crowd. What is wrong with this picture is that "ALL" these voting for these bailouts were re-elected. WHY? Because the sheeple of NJ have no understanding of "SOUND MONEY". The answer to the banking crisis is to "END THE FED". Nationalise this illegal enty and turn to creation of funding back to "THE PEOPLE". SOUND MONEY NOW, is what I say! PEOPLE OF NJ, I can only hope that you see the actions of those you have empowered to vote for you. Is this what you want? Higher taxes? Who do you think is going to pay for these bailouts? Vote the BUMS OUT. Time to elect "NEW BLOOD", red-blooded AMERICANS that are willing to make the hard choices, people like "U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-Vineland), U.S. Rep. Jim Saxton (R-Burlington), U.S. Rep. Mike Ferguson (R-New Providence) and U.S. Rep. Scott Garrett (R-Wantage) all voted against the bailout package." End the illegal taxation of wages now.
Look at Ford
Four weeks ago, Democrats stood ready to hand-out over $20 billion to "The Big Three." After Republican threats of filibister and recalling that the GOP did vote against the bank bailout on firt vote, Democrats told the heads of The Big Three to go back to Detroit empty handed and not to return without a plan on how to use bailout funds.
After 3 weeks of work, Ford decided that they did not need a bailout after all. How sad is it that we have people willing to hand out billions after just 3 weeks to "make a plan." Serious business plans cannot be made in such a manner. Ford has shown that smart business trumps handouts.
This whole scam is worse than the "Bridge to Nowhere" because this is only a bridge to March, when Chrysler and GM will ask for - and get - more money from the Democrat majority.
And we must be stupid to think that a gov't appointed "Car Czar" should be making major decisions about what kind of cars to manufacture. Didn't we learn from France and Yugoslavia, who failed miserably with the Renault and Yugo - two gov't run car companies?
Come on, America. Wake up before gov't controls all aspects of our economy.
"I figure people drift toward liberalism at a young age, and I always hope that they change when they see how the world really is.”

Well
I don't think I can vote for Chris ever again now. I was on the fence this time around but this has sealed the deal.
These funds should be made
These funds should be made available to small businesses and home owners since they are the ones that keep America moving, not big corporations.
Chris Smith
I am surprised Chris Smith voted for it, considering he voted against both financial bailouts.
Tough Call, but Good Vote
Smith did the right thing. If GM were to fail the entire Midwest would sink into a depression. How long do you think it would take for that to affect the people of NJ? Keep in mind that Smith voted against the $700B Paulson bailout, so $15B to the only companies that still manufacture their product in the US seems justifiable. Please keep in mind that car sales are down around 45%.
Bad Vote
The Republican Senators came up with a bill that would give the automakers the same loan but they would have to restructure their companies to make them successful.
Like Mitt Romney has said a month ago, the bailout bill your buddy Smith voted on is going to delay the inevitable.
He gave money to these auto companies to keep functioning under the same failed business model. There is no promise to become more competitive.
This is just an installment to a larger bailout in the future.
Also these cars would not fail if they didn't receive this money. That is a threat from the auto workers union because they refuse to make concessions.
Smith got scared and made a bad decision along with the other idiot in this article.
NJ Taxpayers
were just given the " Gegglefinger " by these traitors. Everyone knows that this is a huge Union bailout and has nothing to do with sound financial investment. Chapter 11 & re org is the way to go

Frelinghuysen bails on the voters
Mr. Frelinghuysen, you should be ashamed of yourself. You depict yourself as a conservative, but a conservative would never have voted for the 700 billion financial services bailout or the 14 billion auto maker bailout. You certainly aren't a liberal, because you are against any sensible reform of our drug laws. What you are is a Congressman who needs to be replaced!

Doesn't matter...
Won't get passed in the Senate anyway so it's a moot issue.
Smith was probably worried about laid off auto workers and the jobs that would be affected in his district.
Lord knows why Frelinghuysen voted for it...
Thank you LoBiondo and Garrett!
I wish that the rest of the Republicans would look to the Constitution and principles of their party, rather than socialism for guiding principles.
