Focused on getting re-elected mayor next year, Edison Mayor Jun Choi won’t entertain questions about a 7th District Congressional run in 2010, or about 2011 legislative redistricting.
“My only interest right now is Edison,” Choi told PolitickerNJ.com. “My only interest is to improve the quality of life for Edison residents and to complete the job we started in Edison. I am committed to running for re-election.”
Choi bucked the organization line nearly four years ago to win as an independent Democrat. Whether or not the party organization gives him a concerted challenge in 2009 is now a question mark, at least according to party brass.
“I haven’t heard of any challenger yet,” said Middlesex County Democratic Party Chairman Joseph Spicuzzo. “That’s not to say they’re won’t be one, but I can’t make a comment because I haven’t heard anything as of yet.”
Edison Democratic Party Chairman Thomas Paterniti, who put down a Choi uprising by a nearly -1 margin when Choi challenged Paterniti for local party chair, likewise refused to speculate about potential challengers to the mayor.
“All I know is I’m the Democratic chairman, and in March, he’s (Choi’s) got a right to screen, just like anybody else,” said the former state senator. “If he screens and he gets it, then he’ll have our support.”

Choi is a typical "reformer"
Someone who wins an election and then has no idea what to do other than raise taxes. This is why "reform" administrations almost never succeed themselves. These are people who need a committee to clean up snow, and then a committee to figure the right demographic makeup of the snowcleaning committee.
Choi's platform turned out to be a whole lot of hot air. The only thing he's done is raise taxes and his own salary. That's a pretty hard sell in any economic climate, particularly this one.
Choi gets the job done
In a short time in Edison, Jun Choi has built a track record of producing results and engaging everyday citizens in their local government and community. He has done this while the Old Guard Democrats have constantly worked against him and with an all-Democratic Council that worked against him for two years.
He brought to Edison the logical thinking of long-term budget planning and this year he introduced a budget below the rate of inflation. It is a budget that will now stabilize taxes in Edison.
While political insiders sometimes feel left out, Choi is continually meeting with regular town people who rely on their government to get the job done - and they're seeing results.
There have been millions of dollars in grants that have brought Edison a farmers market, bike racks at parks and paved streets - just to name a few things.
But the thing about this guy is that he has no fear when it comes to tackling tough and politically challenging issues like the Edison police department and the Edison firefighters union. No one. No one has had the guts to face these guys down for the sake of the taxpayers.
Jun Choi fraud
Jun Choi is a fraud, sham and otherwise liar and should step down as mayor.
Commitment
It's refreshing to find someone who is more committed to serving his constituents than to political ambition. Choi has been a real force for change but getting the job done takes time. Props to Choi for putting Edison first.
The people who decide
elections, the voters of Edison, like this guy so no matter what the R's or the establishment D's have thrown this guy's way he seems to always come out holding the long straw. Choi bucked the system and Senator Lynch and won, bucked the system and Paterniti and won,so suffice it to say the naysayers have been worng thus far.
I think like the national R's that the local R's don't have a plan. Its not good enough just to call folks names, what did EmilZola say;liar, fool cheat, WHATEVER. WHAT'S YOUR PLAN?
