Richardson to campaign for Obama in Newark

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson is scheduled to campaign for Barack Obama in Newark's North Ward on Saturday, Sept. 6th, according to Essex County insider, former State Democratic Party Chairman Ray Durkin.

Durkin is a personal friend of Richardson's and signed up as an early backer in last year's Democratic Primary.

North Ward Democratic leader Steve Adubato and his team are organizing the Richardson event, aimed at energizing Latino voters for the Democratic ticket on Nov. 4th.

I'm hispanic (peruvian

I'm hispanic (peruvian decent) and I grew up in North Newark. I'm not really sure how this is suppose to "energize latino voters". Richardson is mexican-american from a southwestern state. Most people in north newark are puerto ricans, dominicans, ecuadorians and a few other latino groups. Maybe it would be better if they had like Menendez and Richardson campaigning together with a kind of "unity between different latinos" kind of thing but just having Richardson out there alone isn't the best way to go about this.
