The Rev. Reginald Jackson in Orange today:
ORANGE - Rev. Reginald Jackson, pastor of St. Matthew AME Church in Orange and executive director of the Black Ministers’ Council of New Jersey, predicted that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Il.) would turn several states blue that were red in the last presidential election cycle.
"I think what Barack Obama does is he broadens the map for Democrats," said Jackson, who was one of the key members of The Group, the powerful fund-raising arm of Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in New Jersey.
Now a self-professed big backer of Obama, Jackson said he believes the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee would be competitive in the South and the West.
"He gets you North Carolina and maybe Georgia, he will compete in New Mexico, and he could get you Montana," said Jackson, who today attended the mayoral inauguration of Eldridge Hawkins, Jr, at Orange Middle School.
Jackson said The Group in the coming days plans to sit down with David Plouffe, Obama’s campaign manager, and the former campaign manager for Sen. Robert Torricelli, to determine what role the outfit would play in the Obama campaign
"We’re going to get Obama elected," said Jackson. "I’ll tell you this right now, I can’t take (Sen. John) McCain."
The reverend said he likes Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del) as a running mate for Obama. "He has international and foreign policy experience that would balance out the ticket," Jackson said.
Garden State Equality fires new broadside at Dems Smarting over the state Senate's refusal to pass marriage equality and disillusioned at the moment with the Democratic Party majority, Garden State Equality’s 85-member Board of Directors unanimously decided against giving financial contributions to political parties and their affiliated committees. ...
“We will work harder and smarter to protect consumers, to preserve civil rights, to effectively regulate the alcoholic beverage industry, to ensure that the integrity of New Jersey’s casino gaming industry continues, to keep drives, passengers and pedestrians safe on our streets, to assist victims of crimes, and to remember always the importance of juvenile justice on issues affecting the state." -- Attorney General-designate Paula Dow, at her Senate confirmation hearing.

Obama/Biden ticket is ... a joke.
The reverend Jackson should stick to religion and avoid politics as every man of cloth should have done. "He [Biden] has international and foreign policy experience that would balance out the ticket." I guess that being a Senator from Delaware and residing in Washington, DC for over 30 years gives you enough international experience in the reverend opinion.
What is up with this Group? Should the Reverend Jackson not concentrate on his flock rather than on supporting politicians wherever they are?
you're reasoning is a joke
you forgot to mention that Biden has been in the Foreign Relations Committee for much of those 30 years and is now the chairman of it, so he gets around a lot and meets a lot of world leaders. Reverends endorse politicians because they are high profile community figures, get used to it.
