During the primary season, Sen. Bob Menendez’s name circulated as a possible vice presidential pick for Sen. Hillary Clinton.
With Clinton now out of the race and Menendez doing his best jockeying on her behalf to get her on the ticket as Barack Obama’s running mate, the New Jersey senator fielded a question Thursday regarding his filling the role himself as backup to the party’s leading man.
Like Obama, he opposed the Iraq War from the beginning and has a progressive voting record. Unlike the junior senator from Illinois, Menendez possesses many years of Washington experience, including foreign policy credentials. It could be argued that he balances the ticket from a regional standpoint.
Is he interested in the vice presidency? Is he on any Obama short list or has anyone from the campaign approached him?
Menendez responded to the quick succession of questions with a one word answer, "no."
"I’m thrilled to represent the people of New Jersey," said the lawmaker, who campaigned hard for Clinton in New Jersey and elsewhere before her campaign called a cease fire last Saturday and she endorsed Obama.
Menendez also scratched Gov. Jon Corzine off the list of potential vice presidential picks for Obama. "Gov. Corzine could clearly be a good candidate, but he’s interested in being governor," Menendez said.

off VP list
Oh Please!!
A ILLEGAL ALIEN and an IDIOT.............
Yea, right!
Looks like a preemptive move to me. Menendez is one connection short of jail time and Corzine has exasperated every aspect of this anti-business, highest taxed, over regulated, most corrupt, bankrupt state in the union. (Although those credentials may actually be resume enhancements for the B. Hussein Obama team.)

Spin Doctors?
Whatever short list they thought they were on were probably never seen by the Obama camp. Perhaps these lists were ones in their mind or their fantasies?
These two have as much of a chance of being a VP as Ed Rendell does.
These guys went above and beyond the call of duty, helping to drive a division in the party, than most any other politician in the country.
Why?
Because the other politicians were also interested in doing their day job instead of trying to set themselves up for a position in Hillary's kingdom. Instead, as Rome (I mean New Jersey) burns under various problems, they were off trying to secure their own personal agendas. But then again, New Jersey was probably better off that they weren't messing with things in this state or problems could have been worse! But that's just my opinion.
Your Washington bridges weren't just burned, they were napalmed!
Bob and Jon off VP list!
Was that Ferriero's list that Christie wanted to see? No wonder they burned it.
County Corruption Ticket

Yes, I Know, It's Easy To Take Pot...
...Shots and Menendez and Corzine.
Sadly for America and for New Jersey, compared to the level of thoroughly corrupt and utterly compromised governance we could expect from a McCain administration; I would rather have Jon Corzine or Bob Menendez running the show!
From Frederick Douglass
how do you get off a list
that you were never on. unless bobby and jonny were really expecting an august surprise at the convention. pointless.
I Didn't Realize...
That today's 'Quote Of The Day' was also the site's comedic relief.
"Gov. Corzine could clearly be a good candidate, but he’s interested in being governor."
-- U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez assesses the possibility of Gov. Jon Corzine being a vice presidential pick for Barack Obama.
Rob Tornoe might get a little jealous.
I have an announcement to make
I will not accept the VP nomination either. I'm taking myself off the list.
I cannot serve
If asked, I will not serve. Really, a crook and an arrogant, pompous, and stupid a## on a list for vp? Thanks for the great laugh!!!!
PAY ATTENTION
the headline really is a misrepresentation of the story. he was asked about being the vp, etc. etc and said "no". he didnt put the story out there or put out a press release that said he has taken his name off the list like the tag line would indicate. if any of you actually read the article and could comprehend what was written you'd see it that way. then again, it's more fun to take shots at politicians than to actually make smart commentary on what's being reported.
way to go.
Glad to see
That Max is back
