Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy says that state Sen. Brian Stack (D-Union City) was wrong when he said that the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO) has not done enough to reach out to minority candidates.
“I couldn’t disagree with him more,” Healy, who chairs the HCDO, said on Tuesday while waiting to meet with Gov.-Elect Chris Christie for a press conference at a Jersey City homeless shelter.
“We supported [state Senator] Sandra Cunningham, a minority candidate. He supported Lou Manzo, a non-minority candidate. We supported [Hudson County Sheriff] Juan Perez. He supported a non-minority candidate,” said Healy, referring to a 2007 primary conflagration between the HCDO and Stack’s own emergent Democratic machine. “Saying is one thing… but we’ve walked the walk.”
Stack, who is also mayor of Union City and controls a large bloc of votes there, made the critical comments about the HCDO last Monday when asked if he would support removing Cunningham from the party line because she blocked the appointment of Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise. Stack called the organization a “paper tiger” stuck in the mindset of a “society that maybe existed 80 years ago.”

“We will work harder and smarter to protect consumers, to preserve civil rights, to effectively regulate the alcoholic beverage industry, to ensure that the integrity of New Jersey’s casino gaming industry continues, to keep drives, passengers and pedestrians safe on our streets, to assist victims of crimes, and to remember always the importance of juvenile justice on issues affecting the state." -- Attorney General-designate Paula Dow, at her Senate confirmation hearing.

Stack Wants In
He'll say anything to get attention and votes even if not necessarily true.
Dump Cunningham
If Healy and the HCDO have any guts they'll dump Sandy.
Stack needs votes?
With a stronghold of 90% of votes in his mayoral town, and over 70% of approval in his Legislative district, the last thing Stack needs is attention or media to keep his voting base.
Why doesn't the HCDO work anymore? Maybe because it's head honchos are all involved in a corruption bust?
Outisde of Jersey City, no one cares about the HCDO. North East Hudson will choose Stack over the HCDO anyday. As would NorthWest & western towns, with Sacco.
HCDeadO.
HCDO and Heely a joke
They think because they backed minority candidates they are kool? Its all for show. Fact is that the HCDO is a racist dying dinosaur and anyone who is not drunk or irish is not part of the hierachy.
