FDU: Christie 41%, Corzine 39%, Daggett 14%

A Fairleigh Dickinson University poll released today shows Republican Christopher Christie leading Gov. Jon Corzine 41%-39% -- a statistical dead heat - with independent Christopher Daggett at 14%.

"At this point, anyone who says their vote doesn't count is mistaken," said FDU political scientist and poll director Peter Woolley.  . "And no one knows that better than the campaigns."

The horse race numbers for Corzine and Christie are exactly the same as in an FDU poll released on October 6.

When Daggett's name is read to the respondents, he gets14% support and actually draws more from Corzine than Christie, giving Christie a two point lead over Corzine, 41% to 39%.  When an obscure independent candidate's name is read - in this case Gary Steele - he gets 3% of the vote and Corzine leads Christie by a more significant 46% to 41%.

In a two way race, Corzine leads 44%-43%, with 6% volunteering Daggett's name.

Corzine's approval rating remains upside down, at 37% approve to 52% disapprove - virtually unchanged since the summer (his favorables are 37% favorable to 54% unfavorable).  But Christie's favorables are also upside down, with 41% of respondents viewing him favorably and 44% viewing him unfavorably.

Daggett is the only major candidate whose favorables are right side up, and only 18% of voters have not heard of him - down from 50% earlier this month and 67% in September.  He is seen favorably by 28% of voters and unfavorably by 23%.

When asked which of the two major party candidates was more honest and trustworthy, voters were split: 33% said Corzine and 32% said Christie.  More voters (42%) think Christie understands the concerns of the average person than think Corzine does (35%), but Corzine leads when asked which candidate has "the background and experience to be a good governor" - 48% to 33%.

Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind surveyed 694 likely voters statewide between October 22 and 28.  The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4%.

The only poll that matters

The only poll that matters is in the booth, when the voter is in there deciding who will lead this State more effectively.

Daggett has no realistic chance. That's not a criticism, that's a fact.

Corzine has spent mucho dinero on smearing Christie and avoiding the large albatross- taxes.

Christie has made his position clear; lower spending is lower taxes. Bring businesses back to New Jersey and the jobs will come. The more jobs the people have, the better the state economy and the less dependent the people are on the government.

The result is that we all take responsibility and shrink government down to what it is supposed to be.

In that poll, ask yourself whose plan will turn things around.

The big question you need to ask is; if things are so bad, do we need more of the same or do we,... do our children, do our neighbors and do our friends deserve a change?

Vote Christie Guadagno!

Where's the Beef?

No fat joke here, but:

Christie's plan is lower taxes and add jobs. That's it? Where are the specifics? What will he do to stop feeding the political monster that is New Jersey? Remember that Corzine was going to dramatically reduce property taxes.

Both Christie and Corzine are banking on the ignorance of the voter. It has always worked before, so why not this year?

Even if Daggett doesn't win, voting for him sends a message that support for the ineffectual two party system in Nj is dying.

They say if it ain't broke don't fix it

Wouldn't the corollary to that be if it is broke, then you have to try to fix it? New Jersey is broken (and broke). If the last 4 years have shown us anything, its that Jon Corzine has failed. If nothing else, he has proven he is not the guy to fix this.

You can talk all you want about economic Tsunamis but the bottom line is that New Jersey has underperformed relative to other states and our rankings have dropped as to critical economic measures. Whether Corzine was well meaning or not, spending skyrocketed for his first 3 years, only to drop in year 4 due to economic reality and campaign convenience.  Even with the politically motivated decreases, it still took almost $2 billion in stimulus funds from his pal Barry to plug the budget gap.

And that's another thing, should Barry be dealing with more important things (like afghanistan, the economy, world peace...maybe even the Olympics) other than coming to NJ 2x in a week and half to shamelessly pimp for Corzine.  The fact that Corzine keeps trotting in these a-listers is proof positive that they know they are in trouble.  What they don't know is that the last thing New Jerseyans want or need is people from outside of New Jersey telling us what we should do.

Corzine has not done the job.  He's failing and we're flailing.  Christie at the very least represents a change from something that we know is not working.

It's broke people......fix it.

Vote Christie / Guadagno

Christie is anti-business, here's why...

Christie's campaign site lists 88 positions, some of which are in serious error and would have the effect of hurting businesses as well as generally being anti-victim!

Party labels mean nothing this year.

Not a Wasted Vote

It seems that the propaganda that a vote for Daggett is a wasted vote is backfiring on the GOP. With Daggett in the polls Christie is up by 3 points. Take Daggett out of the polls and Corzine is up by 6 points.

If you're afraid that a vote for Daggett is a Vote for Corzine, don't be because the polls show Daggett is hurting Corzine and putting Christie ahead.

See this Daggett Hurts Corzine and Helps Christie

You can be sure that you don't waste your vote by making the I'll vote for Dagget pledge.

The Daggett pledge is based on a simple premise, if enough people pledge their vote then you will vote for Daggett
