Christie leads gubernatorial pack with $3 million on hand

With about a month to go before the gubernatorial primary, former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie has $3,033,463 on hand after raising a total of $4,686,183, according to the 29 day pre-election reports published on the Election Law Enforcement Commission’s Web site.

That's more than six times what Christie's nearest rival, former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegnan, has on hand.  Lonegan has raised almost half of what Christie has, with $2,109,093 in total, but has $481,824 on hand.

Both Lonegan and Christie receive two-to-one matching funds from the state.

The other Republican gubernatorial candidate, Assemblyman Rick Merkt (R-Mendham), has raised $43,900 in total -- most of which is his own money.  He's spent $41,507 and has $2,392 in cash.

But while Christie is just short of maxing out in matching funds for the primary -- having received $2.86 million from the state, which is just shy of the $3.1 million limit for the primary -- Lonegan is still eligible to receive almost $2 million more from the program.

Democratic incumbent Gov. Jon Corzine, who is not expected to face a competitive primary challenge, has raised a total of $2.723 million to date and has $321,156 on hand.  Of the total raised, $2.05 million is Corzine's own money.  Corzine, who is likely to pour millions more of his own money into the race, declined to take matching funds.

Corzine primary challenger Carl Bergmanson, the former mayor of Glen Ridge, raised $1,725 and has the same amount on hand. Another Corzine challenger, perennial candidate Jeff Boss, raised and spent roughly $800 of his own money.

Independent candidate Christopher Daggett, who filed a report on April 15, raised $3,525 -- $3,400 of which was donated by his wife, Beatrice.  Daggett has $3,472 on hand.

It's fun playing.....

....with house money. How ironic is it to see two GOP candidates mudwrestling with tax payer money? OINK OINK OINK.

The CliffordCase Drinking Game

Thought I'd post it one more time if anyone missed it.

Every time he uses the word “Looneygan” or “wingnut” – take a drink
Every time he is a concern troll for Christie – take a drink
Every time he uses the word “unelectable” – take a drink
Every time he posts during the normal work day – take a drink
Every time he admits he’s voting for Corzine – take two drinks
Every time he says “Consistently Conservative Chris Christie” – finish your beer
Every time he gives his prediction for the governor’s race – waterfall until the end of the post

Bottoms up!

Christie will need it.

Too bad Christie is locked into Wilson who will find a way to send it through his wife's firm. That is why the NJGOP candidate is always handicapped. Wilson get's his cut, laundered through his wife's firm.

give Mike DuHame more money to watse....

since so many people on this board like to attack Rick Shaftan simply becasue they do not like him, I now think it is fair game to attack his counterpart Mike DuHame.

Mike DuHame had the most money out of all 11 presidential candidates, in some cases by very wide margins.  He and Guiliani outraised Mitt Romney (Romney had more money on hand because it was his) Mike Huckabee, John McCain and heck even Ron Paul.  McCain won the nomination, Romney and Huckabee won several states, and Paul had more votes and delegates then Guiliani did.  In fact, if I remember right GuiLiani, Christie's new standard and DuHame's old boss, spent 65 million dollars to win ONE DELEGATE LOLOLOLOL!

So keep on spending Mike and Chris, in the end it will mean nothing.

It's over

Game, set, match. Chris Christie has more than enough ammo to combat any and all of Lonegan's cheapshots.

Steve Lonegan: Fighting for your right to have your cake and eat it too!

Jrlassiter

If Corzine would cap what he will spend this fall than public matching funds wouldn't be necessary. Of course he won't like Lautenberg wouldn't. I guess want only the ultra rich to run

You can't compare DuHaime

You can't compare DuHaime and Shaftan. Shaftan's actions and insults are akin to a child and his behavior is unbecoming of someone in the public eye. DuHaime, even though I never supported his candidates, is respecful, offers thoughtful analysis and is a gentleman.

Let's not be redundant, YoungNJ

Here's a tip, my friend: Post with content-based analysis, express evidence-based points convincingly, attempt to instuct not destruct, and most of all: don't be annoying.

Corzine is a bargain

For all you political funders  who are on a budget, the cheap bet is Gov. Corzine. You all know he will write the checks himself, whatever it takes.

All his "supporters" are in name only.

not comparing DuHame to Shaftan

I was simply pointing out another fact for you liberals that Mike DuHame wasted 65 million dollars running the what most agree was the worst presidential campaign in modern history.  And since he is also running Christie's campaign and the topic of this string is Christie and how much money he has compared to Lonegan.  My point was it makes no difference, since the man spending the money has no clue how to spend it.

I'll compare Shaftan to DuHaime.

Shaftan has defined the race on his terms. He has Christie running around claiming to be a conservative as well as pro-life when neither are true nor believable!

Shaftan has Christie responding to those newspapers which kick the crap out of Christie and expose his liberal, left leanings.

Now Christie is trying to infer Lonegan wants to raise taxes?

It's almost too ridiculous to comment. Lonegan is many things, but he is not one who has raised taxes. In fact, his flat tax decreases taxes on people who pay taxes versus the progressive income tax which cuts taxes for low income wage earners. Lonegan wants to cut taxes for people earning in excess of six-figures, people who vote in Republican primaries!

11,000 signatures and donors later, Mayor Lonegan is closing in the polls and will have more money to spend than Christie since he's now hitting his ceiling.

Lonegan will raise another $2M in the next three weeks. He has a national network to tap into while Christie and DuHaime are sticking by the same lame strategy that defeated Giuliani and McCain.

Christie wished he had Shaftan who's done a magnificent job.

Vote Column "A" - All the way!

"Lonegan will raise another

"Lonegan will raise another $2M in the next three weeks."

What three weeks? He'll raise all of it tonight when thousands of grass roots blue-collar working-class voters show up to pay homage to Joe the Plumber.

What will you be saying when

What will you be saying when Lonegan loses. Then what will the excuse be. Will you admit once and for all that he is out of touch and more importantly, people are turned off by his outburst and lack of interpersonal skills. Of course not, Rick will have him run for another office that he knows deep down he will not win but will raise money from unknowing people so Shaftan gets his 1/3.

and what will YOU be saying....

when the conservatives in this state FINALLY take their party back and throw all the hacks and loser liberals out on their you know what.

Four weeks to go until so many people have to find work, I cannot wait.

Too funny for words

Dems and don't is consistently absurd. Nuff said...28 days until the next Lonegan loss.

That's what you post when you have nothing to say

It's all true. Mike DuHaime is a joke and Shaftan has got you guys sweating bullets.

28 days to Chris Christie's second consecutive primary defeat.

Vote Column "A" - All the way!

too bad

Stepien is managing the campaign, not DuHaime.

Your all idiots..

Millions Spent on upcoming Elections in CAMDEN COUNTY / GLOUCEST

It’s only other People’s Money – Power, Greed, Money and Dominate Control
You want to see money spent for elections by the Millions, come to Camden County and Gloucester County. This is where Millions are spent on elections. Watch how much Norcross Dumps on the Mayor’s race in Gloucester Township. We heard a least a cool Million to get rid of a Republican Mayor and a Republican Councilwoman’s Seat. Norcross is no stranger to forking out millions. Remember the $4.4 million for the State Senate Seat for a job that only paid $49,000 a year. I guess that Senatorial Courtesy was needed to appoint those Judges. It’s a shame Christie didn’t get in this Neck of the Woods

Steve Lonegan Fights For The Taxpayers, Not Against Them!

Has Christie nearly maxed out his matching funds for the Republican Primary? Three million dollars in matching funds has been maxed out? Wow, 3 million dollars! Remember, those matching funds come from taxpayers, not the 70%, who Christie says, will be forced to pay taxes under Lonegan's flat tax plan. Who cares, it's the taxpayers money, not Christie's!

By the way, Lonegan's flat tax will lower taxes for 70% of New Jersey's residents, not raise taxes for 70% of New Jersey's residents. That Christie guy, gets his figures all mixed up. Maybe he should hire a Certified Public Accountant to do the math for him.

Is Christie really a conservative? Sounds like a liberal to me! Christie and Corzine think alike. Both of them, are big spenders. They fight against the taxpayers, not for the taxpayers. Who cares, it's the taxpayers money, not theirs! It's your money, not theirs! Steve Lonegan fights for the taxpayers, not against them!

Duhame/Stepian

sorry if some of us do not have the inside track to the internal workings of the so called Christie attempt to become Governor. Mike Duhame has been listed as the campaign manager for some time now. If Stepian took it away from him or Christie has them switch I apologize.

Shaftan has me sweating bullets?

yes - because I am afraid once Lonegan loses in June, he will join aboard the Christie ship and sink it like he did the SS Lonegan. otherwise - no - Gilligan Shaftan does not have me worried at all.

very nice thanks so much.

very nice thanks so much. http://www.thefilmizle.com
