Yudin on Coniglio: This is what one-party rule gets you
By Matt Friedman, PolitickerNJ.com ReporterBergen County Republican Chairman Bob Yudin used former state Sen. Joe Conilgio’s conviction on six corruption counts as an appeal to Bergen County voters.
The best way to stop similar behavior in the future, he said, is to vote some Republicans into office.
“It’s a sad and unfortunate day. It is nothing to be happy about,” said Yudin. “What it tells me is that this is what happens when you have one-party rule, which is what we have in New Jersey not only at the state level in Trenton, but here in Bergen County.”
Republicans have not held a seat on the Board of Chosen Freeholders since 2006 and only hold legislative seats in Districts 39 and 40.
“Since the Democrats took control of Bergen County, everything has been for sale to the highest bidder,” he said. “The two party system is what gives us transparency and prevents elected officials from doing things like this.”
