Shaftan says Lonegan campaign will get matching funds tomorrow -- really

This time it’s for real, according to Steve Lonegan’s gubernatorial campaign.

They will receive their sixth submission for matching funds, which has been held up by the Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC), tomorrow.

Lonegan strategist Rick Shaftan said that that ELEC’s commissioners received a complaint about a fundraising mailing his campaign sent out in which they included visible dollar bills inside envelopes to encourage recipients to open the fundraising plea.  The commission wants details on the mailing, including how many the campaign sent out.

“We’re going to continue to get two-to-one matching funds. Nobody’s cutting that off, and we’ll have all the money we need to go onto the primary and then November,” said Shaftan, who said that rumors that ELEC was investigating Lonegan’s ties to his old employer, Americans for Prosperity, were false.

“There are some things they want and we’ll get it to them. It shouldn’t be a problem,” he said.

The commission does not comment on ongoing investigations.  If the Lonegan campaign does indeed receive matching funds tomorrow, it should show up on the ELEC Web site at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Thank-you Lonegan!

For putting taxpayers last!!

I think the fat guy on the far left at about 2:50 into this video posts using a variety of names on this site.

Seperately, watch Lonegan make a story at about 5:20 in the video and then change it about nine seconds later (literally), when he realizes that his first story may have involved a possible violation of RICE standards.

Lonegan

I'll take whatever Lonegan has done over Mr. Pudgy's no bid contract scandal.

Lonegan's mailings

This is truly a tempest in a teapot....I got
one of those mailings and I wasn't offended.
Only a pure nitpicking nutjob would complain
about this(was it you,Cliffy)....
Whoever made the complaint was probably a
Christie supporter...

Stuffing Envelopes with Money

Why would the Lonegan campaign think there is anything unusual or unprecendented or unethical about stuffing envelopes with money? Perhaps they do it all the time.

I agree that the "fat guy" may be posting here, but the end of this piece seems to be a better shot of him.

I think that this video indicates that Lonegan signed a falsified public record, and that perhaps another Bogota councilman created a falsified public record in order to circumvent public contracting laws. Near the end of the video the councilman is clearly speechless and on the hot seat. From what I understand Lonegan's signature is on the document in question.

According to a February 2007 legal certification of a Bogota police officer, later the same month (March of 2004) Lonegan's wife delivered an enclosure (envelope?) of legal billing records to that police officer in the Fairleigh Dickinson University parking lot.

These legal billing records differed from the legal billing records then on file at Borough Hall. My thinking is that Lonegan may have arranged the parking lot meeting to throw the councilman in question under the bus, as it would soon be made public that Lonegan's signature was on the public record that was the subject of the video.

I hope you guys don't do weddings

To the videographers, the fact that nothing was done against Mayor Lonegan indicates that your "evidence" had no merit. You keep posting these "smoking gun" video clips that amount to nothing. The only thing that seems to be clear is that someone by the name of Brennan has an axe to grind with the Bogata Council.

Are you guys receiving therapy?

Di Marco the anti-GOP Lonegan Shill

Derek, here is a better quality video of a very poor communicator, who can't articulate a thought, running against a GOP legislative candidate.

When Di Marco isn't busy tearing down Republican candidates he is posting Lonegan related legal BS on libertarian websites.

Derek, likely posts Lonegan tripe on the nj.com bogota forum using the name OpenGovt. By OpenGovt own admission Bogota has paid well over $100,000 in a settlement. What he fails to note is that the settlement may have been necessary because Bogota did not charge three people in what my opinion was a bar room assault pon an off-duty police officer, probably because Lonegan may have had a grudge against that officer, probably because the police officer had given Lonegan a hard time about what I think was a falsified record that Lonegan did not prepare but did sign -- perhaps unintionally.

According to a certification in a civil suit involving Lonegan, Lonegan may have discussed a GOP county committee election with that police officer on the eve of the officer's penalty phase of a disciplinary hearing. After many years and perhaps several hundred thousands of dollars in legal fees that will probably be footed by taxpayers the officer received a "verbal reprimand". As far as I know one or two civil suits concerning related matters involving Lonegan are still going on.

Di Marco is just one of several maggots who troll the internet on Lonegan's behalf.

STUFFING ENVELOPES WITH MONEY!

ONE DOLLAR!  That is stuffing money!  Please!!

Is ELEC ever going to look at the Christie Kickbacks and all his pay to play thousands.  His fundraiser last night at $500 per plate, yeah nothing wrong with a lawyer that looks like he needs and FBI investigation holding a $500 a plate fundraiser as a pay back for the millions of dollars he received with Christie's help.

But by all means, stall the Longegan campaign over the monetary value of a pack of gum.

Mulshine's Column

ALL Republican voters(and that means you too Cliffy)need to read Mulshine's column from
this Sunday's Star-Ledger to learn the truth
about the NJGOP and why we need LONEGAN TO WIN!!!(or go to www.lonegan.com)

P.S. Remember Jeff Bell, Cliffy?

"When Di Marco isn't busy

"When Di Marco isn't busy tearing down Republican candidates"

Oh come now republican candidates have done a pretty good job of tearing themselves down. Hell they've never been "Up" to be torn "Down".
After Christie's no bid contract disaster you guys might as well run Zimmer for gov.

Do not give them any idea Panama...

Since this is exactly what they did last year.  When the handpicked liberal machine candidate Anne Esterbrook was not able to continue, they went through the whole Inhuway, Crawley, Inhuway and finally to Dick Zimmer when it looked like an actual conservative in Joe Pennachio was going to get the nod.

Lucky for them they have the loophole of the committee on vacancies for the petitions, since the left actually put Inhuway on the ballot and then replaced him with Zimmer.

Remember, the left of the Republican party would rather maintain their table scrap power then actually win.  Since a conservative winning means they find themselves out of power, out of office, and unemployed.

You're right

I keep forgetting We're not talking about tearing Republicans in NJ. Nothing to feel bad about Di Marco There's no such thing as a Republican in the NJ GOP ... just a bunch of Bside democrats.

ever since McCain fiasco

I have personally reformed at least how I discuss things like this. The party labels mean very little anymore. There are simply conservatives and liberals, most liberal prefer to be Democrats and most conservatives prefer to be Republicans. However there are some of the other in each. The battle we are currently having in NJ is between those two sides. Currently the NJGOP is liberal, and those of us who are not want to change that. The way to do that is nominate Steve Lonegan, who then by default gets control of the machine through November and beyond when he beats Corzine and thus allows changes to take place.

Example would be little Tommy Wilson cleaning out his desk on 6/3/09. And Alex Decroce, whether he is re elected or not, losing his leadership position next year. Which is why people like him are more intersted in Corzine winning then Lonegan winning. It is all about the power.

This is just petty theivery by Lonegan

So, we learned this week that Lonegan mails out cash taken from his campaign accounts to his 'supporters.' Supposedly to 'entice them to respond' to his fundraising requests.

I figure the scam works like this: After receiving their dollar in the mail, the 'supporter' mails the cash back to him, and he deposits it. Then the State of New Jersey matches the deposits 2-to-1. So, $1 becomes $3 (less cost of postage).

Do this a few times, starting with a ten thousand dollars, and it really adds up.

How is that not stealing, exactly?

I mean, that is what is going on, right?

Some "patriot." Keep talking, blabbermouth. No, on second thought, shut your stupid face.

Here is the link

first of all

Do this a few times, starting with a ten thousand dollars, and it really adds up.

No it's not stealing. He can use the money however he wants, this is AMERICA, RIGHT?
The dollar was to keep people from throwing the mailer away, as well all throw junk mail away.

Democrats have been buying votes with tax payer money for decades, by getting as many people on the dole as possible.
hence the tea party's.

Wow, Panama Hack, you nailed it . . . .

You said "Democrats have been buying votes with taxpayer dollars for decades . . ."

So that makes it right?
