Doherty brings up the abortion issue in primary against Karrow

Calling a donor group that supports pro-choice Republican women a “radical pro-abortion group,” Assemblyman Michael Doherty (R-Washington Twp.) called on his primary opponent, state Sen. Marcia Karrow (R-Hunterdon), to return donations from the fund.

At issue is $3,000 Karrow received for her assembly primary bids in 2001 and 2005 from The WISH List, and a 2001 $2,200 donation from its founder, pro-choice Republican activist Candace Straight.

“According to its mission statement, ‘The WISH List raises funds to identify, support and elect pro-choice Republican women at all levels of government – local, state and national.’” Said Doherty in a press release, “I find it amazing that Marcia Karrow is trying to fool the
voters of the district regarding her pro-abortion views. On top of that, she has the audacity to take thousands of dollars of campaign contributions from this radical pro-abortion group.”

Karrow is pro-choice, although she supports restrictions like a ban on partial birth abortion.  Doherty, one of the most conservative members of the legislature, is staunchly pro-life – so much so that New Jersey Right to Life endorsed him for state Senate before any other candidates announced.

Karrow beat Doherty in a special convention for Lance’s seat in January, after Lance moved up to the U.S. House of Representatives.  Doherty, however, is challenging her in the June primary.

"Instead of attacking fellow Republicans Mike Doherty should join Marcia Karrow's fight to stop the disastrous Corzine tax plan and budget,” said Karrow spokeswoman Lisa Bialoskurski. “Working families are being chased out of the state but Doherty seems more interested in political gamesmanship than stopping Corzine."

Oh, please stop ... my stomach hurts from laughing!

Radical? Supporting a legal medical procedure is "radical"? Amazing.

Kookoo

Doherty is a wacko....doesn't he have anything better to do, like talk about his accomplishments...or lack thereof

Big Tent

Marcia Karrow is a proponent of the Republican Party Big Tent.

Historically though, Big Tents have usually been filled with Freaks.

Speaking of Big Tents, did you see that dress Karrow was wearing?

Doperty is an idiot

But always good for a few laughs.

Sad

This is kinda sad. If Doherty is so anti-abortion then he shouldnt have one...oh wait he's a man and cannot possibly understand what it is like to be pregnant or be a woman or have an abortion or...we all get it. Abortion should be safe, legal and infrequent can we please move onto another debate. Although as far as Im concerned the GOP can eat themselves alive on this the country (not the GOP base) is increasingly pro-choice. Anti-choice proponents are a dying breed

Oh Blue.....

Perhaps in your secular world, "choice" trumps the miracle of life. In the 23rd District, among Republican primary voters it does not.

The "choice" is to not get pregnant or cause a pregnancy. The second choice is at the expense of the innocent one in the womb, and that is a little more complicated....no????

Think of where you would be now if you were ...say ... in the trash can a few months before your birth. What a loss it would have been.

Just because...

(Blue, Formerly), 'Everyone's doing it' doesn't make it right, or didn't you ever hear that one? and, Just because it is legal doesn't make it moral. I guess you also think that abortion is a perfectly fine form of birth control, because that is exactly how it is being used. A child is a child even if unborn, which supports the idea that a person (Scott Peterson) can be convicted of murdering an unborn child as "special circumstances" in addition to the murder of another (his wife who was pregnant at the time).

Thank you, wise one, the "Choice" is one that is made when one decides to have illicit or unprotected sex. In the event that someone has forced the action on someone else, then the provision for abortion is there. But to have taxpayers who don't even support the idea of it then pay for it, now things are really not adding up--No 'choice' for the innocent baby, no 'choice' for the ones who Choose Life.

And Marcia? R.I.N.O. This should be the entrance exam, one question.
