Wilson still considering primary bid in District 37 Cid Wilson

With Bergen County Democratic Chairman Joseph Ferriero facing corruption charges, party leadership in flux and rivals on both sides of a party divide at least paying lip service to unity, there’s less appetite in the county’s Democratic organization for more intra-party fights.

But Cid Wilson, a financial analyst from Leonia who with Hackensack Police Chief Ken Zisa last year waged a Ferriero-backed primary campaign against incumbent Assembly members Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Englewood) and Gordon Johnson (D-Englewood), said that he is still leaning towards a re-match.

“That has not changed. I am exploring all my options, and that includes exploring my options to possibly be a candidate,” he said.

Wilson, a trustee at Bergen Community College and several community organizations, said that he would “very much like to see unity in the party.” A primary, he acknowledged, might not help that cause, but a challenge among county committee members in legislative district convention would be another matter.

“I certainly would not like to see a primary take place. One of the ways of unifying the party is by having a county convention, and that is certainly an option because that way the elected members of county committee get their voice,” he said. “A unified party does not mean that it rules out my options.”

Wilson might fare better in a convention than a primary. The county committee from the District 37 convention is split between Ferriero allies and those loyal to the splinter group Huttle and Johnson help lead, the Real Bergen Democrats.

Huttle, however, would not publicly speculate on the prospect, other than to say “anyone has the freedom to choose to run for public office. I welcome that.”

Wilson

Is an excellent candidate with a good resume.

Gordon Johnson has done nothing in the legislature.

Wilson would be a formidable foe.

Vote Column "A" - All the way!

Cid the uniter!

Go for it Cid! Be a uniter after you win. What an excellent idea.

CAN IT BE MORE OBVIOUS!!!

Wilson is a puppet of the Ferriero machine.  Of course he wants to challenge at the convention, after all most D37 county committee members are either county employees or related to a county employee loyal to Joe.  Wilson lacks legitimacy on his own.  Tell us Cid, are you going to pull a Padilla LWC move (Latino When Convinient)?

POR FAVOR, GIVE US A BREAK!!!!

Cid from BCIA

Ties to Oury & Ferrerio, he has no chance.

WIlson Is A Great Leader!

Coqui, you obviously do not know Cid Wilson. If you did, you would not say something so stupid as "Latino When Convenient". Cid is one of the most well-respected Dominican American leaders in the United States (not just NJ, but the entire US). He is nationally-recognized Afro-Latino leader who has advocated for the millions of Black Latinos. He's exactly what our community would need to unify us. Did you see his interview on ABC News? It is very impressive. He's a Life Member of the NAACP and he a member of the National Council of La Raza. It doesn't get more unifying that THAT!!! The fact that he is a #1-ranked Wall Street analyst while doing his community work is very impressive! He would run circles around Gordon Johnson and Valerie Vainieri Huttle. Cid is a great leader and it would be a huge mistake for Johnson and Huttle to take him lightly. If the voters see his background, he would win in a primary against both of them. What have Johnson and Huttle done for our community? Go Cid!!! We need good people like you in the assembly.

Impressive Background!

While I don't like Ferriero and what he stands for, I must say that I do like the idea of Cid Wilson as a candidate for assembly. His background (as I found on Google) is very impressive . . . far more impressive than Gordon Johnson. His story of coming out of the mail room at a Wall Street firm to become so successful is quite inspiring. I like that he's a trustee at Bergen CC. He would win in a county committee convention. I hope he runs. We can't have anymore Lyndon LaRouch supporters representing us (opps, I mean Gordon Johnson).

Problems for Gordon and Valerie

Gordon Johnson lost a lot of respect in the community. Valerie Huttle is a hypocrite. Her family is getting rich on "pay-to-play", what a two-face. I met Cid Wilson last summer for the first time and he really impressed me. Very mannerable bro and talks very articulately. If Cid runs, I think he would win. He doesn't appear to be anyone's puppet.

I DO KNOW CID

This is why I stand by my previous posting.  Paying dues is what makes you a member of an organization.  It is what you do with that membership that counts.  In my 10yrs as a member of LA RAZA and have never seen Cid or any other of the LWC officials at Advocacy Day.  (btw the biggest event the organization runs in support of both the latino and African-American community) And tell me, as BCC trustee,( Ferriero appointment)  what has he done to improve the educational limbo our immigrant students find themselves in. JOHNSON and HUTTLE are the only two legislators that have been joined by PROUD LATINO elected officials in creating legislation that will improve the ability of these students to achieve a 4yr  college degree in the State of New Jersey. Nice Press Release but the prove is in the FLAN!!!

Johnson and Huttle Have Done NOTHING; Cid is a REAL ADVOCATE

If Coqui thinks that Gordon Johnson and Valerie Huttle are champions for the Latino community, I have a Ferrari that I want to sell you for a dollar. They have done nothing for Latinos. I know Cid Wilson very well and have seen him in action over many years of being involved in the community. He is one of the leading immigration advocates in the state. You obviously didn't see him speak at the Governor's Blue Ribbon Advisory Panel Forum a few months ago. It was very good. Huttle and Johnson were M.I.A. at that forum (as it has always been the case when it comes to Latino affairs) and at just about every major Latino event in the state. I know first hand (since I am very involved in education) that Cid has worked to advocate for immigrant students at the high school and college level. It's a shame that the State Legislature has done NOTHING on this issue. I have absolutely no faith that Gordon Johnson and Valerie Huttle will advocate for Latino students. I agree with StrongLeft that Cid Wilson would make an great state assemblyman and I have far more faith in him working for our community than Huttle and Johnson who have done absolutely NOTHING for Latinos. It's not just about introducing bills, its about advocating and promoting those bills towards passage. Huttle and Johnson have done absolutely NOTHING!!!! I mean NOTHING WITH A CAPITAL "N".

Cid and La Raza

I read via LatinosNJ.com that Cid Wilson was named to the board of directors of the National Council of La Raza earlier this year as the first boardmember from New Jersey since 1992. See for yourself.

http://www.latinosnj.com/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=67768

You don't get on the board of La Raza without having been involved with the organization. Cid is also a Board Delegate for the Latino Leadership Alliance of NJ and you don't get on that board without being involved either. Didn't Johnson sit on the board of the Urban League of Bergen County when it went bankrupt? That says a lot to me.

It's unfortunate that there are people like Coqui who would rather be blind sounding boards for Huttle and Johnson than to do the right thing and support a very qualified (almost overqualified) person like Cid Wilson. Coqui comments are clearly a promotion for Johnson/Huttle irrespective of the fact that Cid Wilson is far-more qualified to be in the assembly than Huttle and Johnson. I think it's Coqui who is LWC. But to each, his/her own. It's America and we are entitled to our opinions.

Cid, if you read this message, we are with you. Cid Wilson For NJ Assembly, all the way!!!!!

Gordon and LaRouch

Cid Wilson supports Democrats. Gordon Johnson supports Lyndon LaRouch. Need I say more. Gordon is done.

Run Cid, Run!

I hope Cid Wilson runs. He's a great guy and has his heart in the right place. I too have seen Cid in action. He spoke to the students at our school. I know that he truly cares about the community. He could easily have done what many in our community unfortunately do when they become successful, they leave our community. But instead Cid stayed involved in our community and he's always willing to come to the classroom and speak about his successs and how the students can be successful too. He's an incredible motivational speaker. I think he would do a great job in the State Assembly. We need more role models in our community. Cid Wilson is definitely a role model.

An Overall Good Guy

Cid Wilson is a good guy. I think he will do well if he runs for the assembly. I like that he is Afro-Latino and is active in both the African American and Latino communities.

cid wilson

d-37 is always going to be democratic so let's take an objective look at the race. Huttle is definetely a a pay to play hypocrite as her husband is a partner in one of the biggest dem pay to play law firms in nj. she loves the money he makes. Johnson wouldn't know one end of the assembly chamber from the other. all he cares about is his double dipping pay checks.Cid Wilson has the right idea. build party unity by letting the county committee pick the candidates. Huttle and Johnson are afraid of the county committee because their bleak record will not stand up.
