Political observers will see a mix of old and new faces on Steve Lonegan’s gubernatorial campaign team.
Veteran conservative operative and long-time Lonegan ally Rick Shaftan is the campaign consultant, while Hank Butehorn, an attorney who moonlights as a conservative blogger and activist, is serving as the campaign’s Statewide Chairman.
The newest face is Eugene Slaven, a 28-year-old Massachusetts native who will be Lonegan’s campaign manager. Slaven worked as a program manager for the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation in Washington, DC. This is the first campaign he’s managed.
The responsibility of raising $340,000 in donations to qualify for matching funds falls to Nathan Brinkman, 32, a co-founder the Hoboken Republican Club.
Craig O’Brien, a recent college graduate, will be the campaign’s field director. His mother, Maureen O’Brien, just won a seat on the Paramus Borough Council.
“To keep up with me the time I spend traveling around the state I’ve got to keep up with these young guys,” said Lonegan.

Shaftan?
Oh God, he's still around? I thought he was out somewhere writing a book about how to write a good concession speech.
Late thought
Will he have a separate women's issue person?
so
He selected a guy whose never run a campaign to fight an already uphill primary battle, in a state where the GOP is out funded and outregistered...good job Steve
Lonegan = FAIL
All aboard the FAIL-sloop. Captain Lonegan will be on the bridge, spouting his right-wing gibberish. Captain L has to recruit young, inexperienced deckhands because no experienced sailors will crew for him.
Predictions:
(1) Lonegan/Shaftan run a nasty, juvenile primary campaign calling Corzine a "communist" or "socialist", pissing on New Jersey as a place to live, and generally making asses of themselves;
(2) The right-wing nutjobs will put away their Ron Paul paraphernalia for a few seconds and climb about the FAIL-sloop; then
(4) Lonegan pulls a few "Sabrins" and gets some media attention with ill-fated 'spectacles' like betting his campaign on a horse race; while
(3) Lonegan spends most of his campaign money pissing on Christie, and weakening Christie for the general election (with the help of the Paultardz & the Democrooks); and then
(5) Dick Codey easily beats the Republican nominee.
FAIL.
Thanks, Steve & Rick and the j.v. squad.
Not so
Hey Bergen just so you know the Sabrin movement may not be on board with Lonegan because of social issues but also because Lonegan supported Pennacchio in last years primary. A lot of Sabrin backers may back Christie or someone else. Don't count them in the bag for anyone just yet.
14% of voters will make a difference.
Sewaren = paultard
You said "14% of voters will make a difference."
No, they won't. The Paultardz/sabrinistas keep teaching us that they are irrelevant every election.
thanx
