Karrow 'seriously thinking' about state Senate run

Assemblywoman Marcia Karrow (R-Flemington) said today that she is thinking about running for state Sen. Leonard Lance's (R-Flemington) seat, but she doesn’t want to make any announcements just yet.

“I am seriously thinking about it. However, I have to say that my friend Leonard Lance just spent a year of his life running for this seat in Congress, and he really deserves a week to revel in the victory, and I don’t want to diminish any of the press. This is his week,” she said. “I think he just wants to enjoy the limelight and steal his thunder, and I will not be part of stealing his thunder.”

Asked whether that comment was a jab at her district-mate, Assemblyman Mike Doherty (R-Washington), who earlier today told PolitickerNJ.com that he planned to run for the seat, Karrow said “I didn’t say that.”

"Thinking about it??"

"Thinking about it"??
Just "Thinking about it"?????
Assw. Karrow has been salivating over the possibility of her being the State Senator ever since Mike Fergusen announced he was not running for Congress. As a longtime insider, she can do the math and knows the pecking order. I am sure she has been lining up her support behind the scenes in the party for months and months. Probably even has her sights set on the Lt. Governor spot, too.

Thing is liberal Republicans like Karrow will simply continue to bring the party down and down and down. Doherty will at least represent the true conservatives that make up the majority of the Republican Party. I am sure that Matt Holt, Erik Peterson, Ron Sworen, John DiMaio,Richard D. Gardner, and
Everett A. Chamberlain and who knows how many other Republican wanna-bes have their sites set on the two assembly seats they'd both give up to run for Senate. It will be an interesting 2009.

"Seriously Thinking?"

Marcia Karrow hasn't spent a day of her life "seriously thinking" about anything!

There will be more candidates in this

race then there are Republicans in the district.

I was at Blairstown Mayor Steve Lance's victory party last night and he spoke to his supporters that also was interested in running for the Assembly seat opening.  I wouldn't discount his possible candidacy as he is a former Warren County Freeholder and still has support around the county.

Danger for Karrow in Staying Put

The game of musical chairs in the 23rd legislative district is fraught with danger for Marcia Karrow, even if she decides to stay put in the Assembly. With at least one open seat, a host of candidates will flock to the race (the only name omitted by Middleof theRoad was Freeholder Will Mennen). There is a distinct possibility she will be drowned out among the several candidates, none of whom has endured the bad publicity that Karrow has this cycle. She may have no choice but to go to the convention, where the votes favor her, and take her chances in the primary as an incumbent Senator.

No way for Karrow

neither karrow nor doherty can possibly represent Warren and Hunterdon in the way of Lance.  Look outside the Assembly for a better candidate.  The State Senate needs leadership, as do the Repubs.  Those two are dividers, and will not help with NJ problems nor solutoins.
