Waiting at the Adler party

Update, 9:45pm: Assemblyman Lou Greenwald just took the stage and said that Adler won his hometown of Cherry Hill with 65% of the vote. Earlier, he told PolitickerNJ that, if the Myers margin of 11% holds in Ocean County, that's pretty good for a Democrat. He told the crowd that this election is coming down to Burlington County.

“This election is coming down to Burlington County and the people in this room, and you are going to elect the first Democratic congressman for the first time in a century.”

Update, 9:25p.m: Adler's supporters are still anxious and uncertain. One described the mood as "pensive." But when one of the crowds called Ohio for Obama, the room erupted in a cheer.

MT. LAUREL -- The buffet has opened at John Adler’s party at the Mt. Laurel Marriot, and Evesham Mayor Randy Brown is emceeing the ceremonies.

Brown warned the crowd that this race will be tight, as expected. So far, all they have to go by are numbers coming out of heavily Republican Ocean County.

“It’s going to be a long night. Get ready," he said.

Mark Warren, campaign manager for Democratic Congressional candidate John Adler, said tonight that even a high turnout in Ocean County is not bad news for the Democrat, and that as of 8:30 there were still voters waiting in line in Burlington County.

“We haven’t ceded any area of this district to Chris Myers, so we don’t think a high turnout in Ocean County is necessarily a bad thing for us,” he said. “You can’t discount the fact that John Adler has spent the last year crisscrossing this district, building relationships with Republicans and independents.”
